Ranking System for Soldat - Matchburn.com
« on: June 06, 2011, 01:57:36 pm »
Hi guys. I'm the administrator of Soldat Brasil.

I've developed a website that is ranking system that focuses on Soldat as a game. It's objective is to use the same ranking formula chess uses (elo). Matchburn offers individual and for teams (clans, guilds) rankings, with match score, statistical data and other functionalities. It's also possible to leave scraps for other players and comment on matches.

In theory the system could support other games, but right now it only supports Soldat and the brazillian community has been using it for about a year. The results have been amazing, as the number of matches increased in about 50% (typically we had ~10 matches per day and now we have ~15). Here is a list of the features:

  • Automatic ranking system using the elo rating system.
  • Automatic periodic resets with hall of fame. At the player's profile you can see his awards.
  • Hability to see the history of a player and a clan, you can see when a player left and joined a clan and all clans he has been in. The same goes for a clan, you can see which members were once part of it and how they scored.
  • Facebook alike Wall. See what the others are doing by going to their profile. You can see if they joined a clan, left a clan, played a match, sent a scrap.
  • Comment on players, clans and matches.
  • Be notified when your clan plays a match and you didn't play it. When you receive a scrap. When your clan receives a scrap. When you are invited to join a clan.
  • Matches can be either between players or clans. When you submit a match, if it's a player match, you just type in the opponents name and the auto-complete well help you find it. If it's a clan match, you just select the clan you played against and then you check the checkboxes of the players who played the game.
  • Clans can be created by players and are automatically activated as soon as 5 players join it. Being activated means you can submit matches against this clan.
  • Complete clan control for leaders. They can easily invite, remove and add members (when the player asks to join a clan you need to approve it).
  • Matches can be edited and validated through an admin pannel.
  • Statistics about how much losses and wins each player has while in a given clan.

I'm open to all feedback and if any community from other countries wants to try it out, it's for free. Thanks in advance!

Thanks, I really wanted to try something more social though, with avatars, messages and stuff :)

@Prodigy the objective was to look like a social network, so yep, it's going to look like orkut or facebook
