Bands & Artists Thread
« on: July 12, 2011, 06:48:20 am »
You happen to play yourself in a band? Or just pluck some techno on your own? This is a thread for you. Post your original compositions, finished songs, wips, tests and such. No covers or that lazy mashup crap. Instead of posting your whole site, give us few songs (preferably your newest) which you want us to listen to. Tell us about the song, if not much then atleast the genre. Giving critic or comment on the contribution above is propably too much asked, so that's optional. I'll reward you with a pretty f**king purple top yoghurt cookie if you do that.

Here's my top notch s**t for starters:

CMCW & Smilecythe - Problems (Oldschool electro)
Vocals, mastering and effects are me. Melody and beats was done by this american lol artist called Cum Muzzle Crack wh***. (Lyrics in description)

SocialSmile - Punch me, Flip me (Melodic metal)
From our two men band. Drums and effects done by me. Riffs played by a fine comrade called MrSocialDisease. Cheap tools used for recording which cost us some fine tune loss.

Your turn, honey cakes.

I don't play in a band yet, but I write classis stuff (yeah, I am that cool). I'll see whether I can record something / make some tabs.

I absolutly dig your music ;)

I found some time and recorded some stuff. My microphone sucks, and I fail to use Audacity properly to remove all the noise, but I hope you can still enjoy it :P

Edit: Could not upload everything, but I will add the rest later.

A cheap $10 mic without computer anywhere near has been a great so and so succes for me so far.
Does the noise come from your computer or mic?

I guess it's my laptop. When I recorded the stuff, I put the mic in front of my laptop, and it's rather loud. I will have to put it somewhere else then :P

If you have a laptop I would suggest getting an external USB sound card. It worked perfectly for me, with noise levels reduced by more than 80%.

EDIT/@Topic: I have some music I'm currently working on which is about half-finished, so might try finishing it and posting here.

I'd probably suggest a USB webcam with a mic. It's what I do and aren't soundcards in general lousy for mics since they use that weird metal headphone jackish connector?

an external soundcard should allow for better recording quality. The noises in recorded audio are usually from the PC. External soundcards are either powered separately, or filter out the static noise with electronics magic, because they are meant to provide for deecnt quality (unless you get the cheapest plastic piece of shit i suppose). And if by "metal headphone jackish connector" you mean the 1/4" jack plug, then that is a standard connector in audio stuff |: If anything, the 3.5mm minijack is more "lousy" (or non-professional)

here's how it would sound like with an audio interface, an ok mic, a bit of EQ and a touch of reverb
from one of my favorite games, forgot how to play this though

acoustic:

electric(direct input to Audio interface):

Edit: smiluu, your kick sounds kinda boxy to me. Sounds like it came from ezdrummer metal preset or superior drummer's metal foundry.

As much as I liked your covers, I said no covers in this thread. Post some of your house.

Define your "boxy", if it means the combination of my cheap recording device mentioned before and my little touch of EQ, then I think I know what you mean. Drums are real work of blood and sweat, not perhaps the most original style and comp, but still not your ezdrummer whatever ripoff.

Here I go!

Well, some of you probably know me for being that extremely talented Chilean Soldat player but I am also a musician - besides being a civil engineering student too.

This is my music guys: http://iszil.bandcamp.com/album/back-to-the-seed

F**K Fresh

Easy Playlist : http://snd.sc/qumXjS
Archive/Download : http://kynetik-art.com/MUSIC/Freedom/

An archive  of old mixes - each often experimental and morphic; together expressing a journey of personal and social growth through anarchic tao.

Blend of hard/house, electro, trance, and DnB techniques, heavy sampling, and well, anything I thought sounded cool at the time of recording. In any case, part of the point of this collection was the ridiculousness of which labelling genres has become IMO - expression is about having something to say and enjoying it.
