Good news everyone!

Soldat 1.6.1 is finally there.

Though it was delayed for a few times we made it just in time for the SCTFL 19.

This version hopefully fixes the most annoying bugs you had in the last release.

But first the changelogs!

Soldat 1.6.1 changelog:

- Added when spectating followed player dot is white in the Minimap
- Added font texture error logging

- Modified increased jet multiplier on maps to account for the loss of jets due to a previous bug fix
- Modified do not create unnecessary file C:\logwmemory.bin on startup

- Fixed DX8 can't be initialized bug with 640x480 fullscreen
- Fixed custom resolution shows 640x480 always when config is opened
- Fixed window resize resizing by the wrong dimension
- Fixed wrong highlighted tab after starting Soldat with -demo
- Fixed Soldat.exe icon issue
- Fixed Chinese text when minimized Soldat from fullscreen
- Fixed stationary gun bullet hits added to currently held weapon's hit count
- Fixed only having one usable secondary selected gives you another weapon as secondary
- Fixed pressing F2 and then F1 shows both weapon and player stats at the same time
- Fixed Soldat doesn't start when a dll is missing in system32 folder
- Fixed A tooltip changes for the prone-key assignation button
- Fixed config.exe still shows 1.6.0rc2 as productversion
- Fixed Running Soldat.exe -mod <ModName> -demo <demoName> <freecam> <speed> options causes 'invalid integer' error
- Fixed Querying for local games will give stacking error-messages
- Fixed Spas Reload button not working when you press it while you can't shoot (shooting delay)
- Fixed chainsaw making sounds when shooting stationary gun
- Fixed passwords longer than 15 characters not working
- Fixed jets being wasted in single player when pausing the game by opening the ESC-menu
- Fixed Camera location jumps to top left corner when there are no playing players after joining spectator team
- Fixed following enemies when dead
- Fixed Throwing a nade and keeping the button pressed, makes shooting with any weapon spread-less
- Fixed knife not being able to throw right after spawn
- Fixed Access Violation on start of Soldat when rendering or loading Bank Gothic Light BT font is broken


Soldatserver 2.7.1 changelog:

- Modified increased jet multiplier on maps to account for the loss of jets due to a previous bug fix

- Fixed RayCast function returning random values for distance
- Fixed Map load errors with having empty lines in mapslist.txt
- Fixed KickPlayer falsely states somebody got kicked in server console
- Fixed WriteConsole throws exceptions on some invalid player ids

- Fixed GiveBonus with invalid player and bonus ids causes exceptions
- Fixed BotChat on invalid player ids causes access violations

- Fixed Certain special characters do not display correctly on Linux servers
- Fixed Spas Reload button not working when you press it while you can't shoot (shooting delay)

- Fixed some bullet styles created by CreateBullet being invisible

It works fine for me, there's just a lack of updated servers at the moment.

some sort of new reloading bug, seems to happen with spas but has happened with other weapons apparently?

it happened with me with spas. i spawned with 0 bullets and had to reload. it happened to johnny and timmeeh also:

I have the Soldat 1.6, but when i execute the patch and the full soldat, the window of installation opens and close faster.

I tried to run as administrator, nothing happened.
I tried to run as compatible mode, nothing happened.

Someone help me.. :(

You should install the patch into the existing Soldat 1.6.0 folder.
Looks like its the wrong path you are trying to install.
You can also try full clean instead.

In DM games one always seems to be set to spectator on join. I wrote a small soldat script to fix this, so DM server owners try to unzip this in scripts folder:

Mhm, it would be nice if Soldat had a built-in updater... It would download new patches itself. We would never have to wait for some bigger update to fix some little bugs  ;)

I installed Soldat 1.6.1 but it's much lag I can not even play because he gets off very slow and giving many lags when I press "esc" to exit the game takes 2 minutes to display the menu.
I do not know if this is the version or is my PC.
If anyone knows to solve this problem please tell me how do I fix this because I want to play and I can not.
My PC is Windows XP 64-bit 512 RAM and video card 64 MB (VIA/S3G UniChrome IGP) and my processor is Celeron 2.26 Ghz.

Yeah this was added by accident.
Happened when I moved files from the different repositories around.
I will remove it if you are annoyed by it (you can delete it without any issues).

In DM games one always seems to be set to spectator on join. I wrote a small soldat script to fix this, so DM server owners try to unzip this in scripts folder:

We wont wait a month this time. So expect it in a few days (depends on how active the other devs are with fixing).

You had issues with fonts before?
Please run Soldat with logging enabled.
And attach the log file.

yes I can't seem to get my enesce server to switch to 1.6.1 i tried the patch...
EnEsCe saves the soldatserver executable somewhere else on this server AFAIK (so that you can't upload executables to exploit his server etc).
You have to wait for him to update his servers.

EnEsCe saves the soldatserver executable somewhere else on this server AFAIK (so that you can't upload executables to exploit his server etc).
You have to wait for him to update his servers.

I'm pretty sure he uses the same technique FLAB and I use for the u13 rentals--a symlinked binary so changing one file updates all the servers.

He'll just have to wait for EnEsCe to get to it. After all, if EnEsCe allowed his customers to manually update the soldatserver by uploading a newer binary, he'd be shooting himself in the foot as he'd be letting skiddies run likely-malicious code on his server.

In DM games one always seems to be set to spectator on join. I wrote a small soldat script to fix this, so DM server owners try to unzip this in scripts folder:

Didn't have it at first as well, but then full force. Dunno, sometimes it is there, sometimes not. However, if you try to play a serious game it makes Spas almost unusable because you can't foretell if it will work or not - unfortunately annoying. Or well funny, if you are into Russian roulette games :D

tap the nade button (just a little tiny tap) every few seconds. it will stop the reload from happening

it happened with me with spas. i spawned with 0 bullets and had to reload. it happened to johnny and timmeeh also:

one or two people reporting of reduced framerate but that might be fixed with a reset since this is all very new.

good work on the update though, glad to see the jets have been fixed and the no self-bink nade hold thing too.

the reload bug is rlly bad, ive experienced it with other weps too but mostly spas. Spas (normally hardly ever running out of ammo) is running out of ammo all the time. Often spawning with 0 Bullets (infact it shows 7, but on first shottry it starts reloading) often having to reload very offten despite having bullets left.

THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED SOON. Plz :)

Besides that, seems to run stable.

I mean about balance... Spas-noobs can kill by one shot even from 15 meters... This is some bullshit, it should not be possible from distance that's farrer than 5 meters...

sry i use spas and also other weps so i feel like im able to compare it.  pas is a strong weapon and can be handled by unexperienced players also. thats true, if ur talking of realistic mode. Its good from short to midrange. Shots need to be timed well thou.
in nonrealistic mode its weaker then other weps.

Seems well balanced to me, also to be a real spashole u need skill u cant denie that.

Realistic Spas's damage shouldn't be so big cause it's 714 (119 * 6 bullets)...
