Find me a game
« on: November 25, 2011, 01:36:05 am »
Hey,

So the black friday sales on Steam are ridiculous and everything is at least slightly cheaper. I'm looking for a game like this:

 - FPS (not third person)

 - No RPG or multiplayer crap, I want something like single player Halo or Doom or Quake or the Half-Life series, where it's all about running and gunning down baddies in a campaign

 - Preferably under $10 USD or close to it. I'm poor as fuck right now.

I'm sure most games will run reasonably on my system: GTS 450 w/ 1GB of video card ram, 4GB of system ram, 3.2GHZ pentium dual core, winxp

I was thinking of this. Only played the demo, so i'll keep an eye out for it in the autumn/winter sale, as the demo was awesome!

Here's a bunch of good 'n free indie shit:

Warsow - Quake copy basically, just ten times faster and you got a dash and walljump features. Core members are skilled as hell. Even if you have played Q3 for 30 years, it will take time to catch up. Free

Legions Overdrive - Intense air/ground fight multiplayer shooter, can be played in both fps and 3rd person. Hitting people with rockets in mid-air (which everyone does) needs alot practice. The jet feature here reminds Soldat a little bit. Free

Xonotic - Your typical fast paced Quake/Unreal influenced multiplayer shooter game, plays very smooth and guns offers a variety of tactics. Free

Tremulous - Aliens vs humans shooter, either fry on humans or shoot aliens. Few games I played with friends were entertaining as hell. Free

Cube 2 Sauerbraten - Another "generic" Quake campaign/multiplayer copy. I like it because of it's manly and badass soundtracks made by Marc A. Pullen. Free

Gore: Special edition - Campaign/multiplayer shooter. I sorta forgot what it was about since it's been a while. I remember it being shitty because of limited stamina or stuff like that. Free

Red Eclipse - Haven't tried myself, but seems fast paced and fun. Propably going to try this one out next. Free

I meant aside from Soldat. Soldat is the only one of its kind that I actually like. :P

Have you played the very first Red Faction? If you like half-life, this is definitely your game. 4,99€ in steam.

I heard Far Cry could meet the criteria (don't know about cost though).

Don't pay for big games if you are not going to play multiplayer >_>

Red Faction fits the bill nicely. Unreal Gold too.
