My friend join as spectator
« on: December 13, 2011, 03:22:02 pm »
Hi,

I have an issue with soldat. I just spent 3 hours with a friend trying to play with him without success.

Actually, he can join my game, but everytime as a spectator. He can't play.

I tried some things :

- With hamachi on lan : He can join as spectator.
- Online : I opened my ports, and everything seems to work, i have a good ping. He can join but always Spectator.

I don't know what to do. I checked all the options, everything seems allright. On is side, he don't find any button to quit spectator mode.

What is that ? A bug ? Are we doing something wrong ? It's getting very annoying as we already spent a lot of time trying to play together without success.

Any ideas ?

THX

I assume you're using the in-game server. I just tested myself and it seems a bug that affected the dedicated server 1 version ago is still affecting the in-game server.

I'd recommend using the latest dedicated server instead of the in-game one: http://soldat.thd.vg/en/download/soldatserver2.7.2_1.6.2.zip

Another solution would be to use the setteam0 command. It works like this /setteam0 <id>, in your case it will probably be /setteam0 2.

Hope it helps

Thanks for the fast answer.

Unfortunately, I have absolutely no idea how works a dedicated server.

How can i use your second option ? Where should I enter this : "/setteam0 <id>" ?
"<id>" Means the number of teams, so the number of players, correct ? So if i want to play with a third friend, I should enter "3" ?

Many thanks

EDIT : I must launch the game in "teamgame" mode ?

Just try entering "/setteam0 2" when your friend has joined as spectator. (don't press the chatkey first, just press the "/" key and you will see the text being typed).

2 will be the ID if your friend because he is the second player to join (you being the first). You can see the ID's when you are typing the command (so after you pressed "/") with F1. They will be in front of the names.

About teamgame mode: AFAIK only deathmatch was affected with this bug, so probably any of the other gamemodes won't give you the spectator bug. If you do wanna play normal deathmatch, just use the /setteam0 or use the dedicated server :)

Setteam0 doesn't work. Nothing happens. But when i make setteam1, setteam2... It works.

So i can finally play deathmatch.

But i encountered the same problem with rambomatch for instance, and when i do setteam, nobody is able to take the bow.

Thx for helping me with the deathmatch though :)
