SRL freeplay ended before it went down, so those playoffs should be going on at the moment.

About the SCTFL site: One of the admin accounts got hacked and the hacker moved all posts to the recycle bin, latest backup is rather out of date so it seems to be tricky to get it back up. I personally hope they just make a clean forum and possibly offer the backed up version as an archive so we don't lose the info from previous SCTFL seasons. Seems to me like the fastest way to get this important site running again.

I agree cause this maintence mode is annnoying.. Plus it refreshes ymmees posts which lead to a interesting series of posts for awhile

I don't think so. Everything is pretty well separated and archived. There is certainly room for improvement, but overall it's not too bad, and I wouldn't want to start the forums from scratch again. It would make more sense to simply put the most recent backup (from October) online instead.

One idea that has been floated is using the October backup and then manually restoring the rest of the topics. It would be annoying and time consuming, but barring the arrival of a better solution, it's something that we may be forced to do. Hopefully no matter what happens, it's done soon.

imo the forums had so much of shit posted by the community it's only good that some parts are now gone. not saying it was full of that but cleaning things up a bit sounds good.

quote trains, "funny" pictures (loads of), constant bashing of certain members, off-topic in nearly every thread, useless posts including only two words or only quoting another post with no actual comments. i do think the competing scene is filled with hatred and it comes up as all the junk that's posted on the forums unless moderated more properly.

i really don't mind as i'm not (currently at least) playing as much as i used to, but i've noticed it earlier and found it rather unenjoyable.

Unfortunately, the website is away so I can't bring existing examples... But there's mess in General Discussion of all leagues. Off-top everywhere you look. That's my opinion. When I enter forum I see a puppie of glued topics. Maybe some new layout would be a good idea... And new SMF? You keep with that old one for long time... Some updates are finally needed.

i think even if we don't have the topics, the site should still be there. it's probably the most popular site in the soldat scene and not having it there will truly kill this game off. reinstate the site, sort out the topics later but give people a place to post and keep up with things (no offence to soldat forums but not too many people post here)
