New weapons!

I don't care what the archaic rules about new weapons in the stickies say. There's no valid reasoning behind prohibiting new weapons. But if you must bring it up, please do so in the sticky where they're discussed rather than bringing it up in this topic. Anyhoo...

Throwing out some ideas of iconic weapons from the silver screen. Feel free to critique or complement the list if you think of any.


Smith & Wesson M29s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smith_%26_Wesson_Model_29)
Harry Fucking Callahan. The police inspector who made this .44 Magnum revolver famous toting it around.



Characteristics
  • Two of them! Unlike Deagles they're fired alternatingly instead of jointly
  • 12 rounds total
  • Reloads each round individually like Spas, but slower. One round every half second, or six seconds for a full reload on both revolvers

The weapon that brought down Tony Montana. A sawed-off double-barrel shotgun.



Characteristics
  • Scatters 12 pellets over a much larger area than Spas
  • Has to reload after every shot
  • Does slightly more damage than Spas up close and is likelier to one-hit kill, but has less range and can't fire as fast


Flak 38 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2_cm_Flak_30/38/Flakvierling)
Another over-the-top weapon like the Minigun or Barrett. This time it's a portable flak gun, made famous by those ol' Nazi rascals. Lift one off its mount from the picture and it's just a big barrel. I could easily see Arnold invading a small South American country with this.



Characteristics
  • Small explosions on impact or after 2/3 of a screen distance
  • Low fire rate, about 4 shots per second
  • 20 ammo
  • Inaccurate as all hell
  • Low damage, about 5 hits to kill


M202 FLASH (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M202_FLASH)
Similar in behavior to the classic rocket launcher from Quake. Can fire multiple rockets in a short interval.



Characteristics
  • Fires 3 rockets in a short interval before reloading
  • Medium damage, about 2-3 hits to kill

M29 - A mix of Ruger,  Deagles and a bit of auto? F11
Sawed-off - Interesting, but we already 2 one-hit killers and 1 two-hit killer (ruger, of course), so F11
Flak - Interesting. Could replace the Minigun. If the Minigun wasn't so bugged, I'd F12 that Flak.

I think, ALL the weapons on Soldat are balanced enough. I would not take any weapons or would put more, just take away the Minigun (lag the servers, it's bugged, but actually it's a fun and suportive weapon)

a quake like rocket launcher, reload after about three missiles - good for boosting and keeping the enemy back

i couldn't test this cause apparently the explosions cannot do "small" damage, eg. making the weapon kill with two or three direct hits.

a bit like your flak i say

I like the flak one; it'd be damn good to have a splash damage / explosive weapon that doesn't kill in one hit on direct impact other than clusters(explosion too small) or grenades(can bounce). Not to mention its unique.

I wouldn't mind seeing sawed off shot-gun replace spas... a 2 bulleted really fast fiering weapon with high bullet spread...

Maybe make ruger into a magnum... making it a 3 hit kill weapon instead... also: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speedloader so it won't be single bullet reload..

don't like the flack cannon idea...

You could probbably modyfy a connon out of stationary gun

There will be no replacing or half-assed modding of existing weapons. This is about NEW weapons. Dare to think outside the box, guys. =)

I like your suggestion Dusty. I'll put it on the list if you don't mind.
