TOP iPhone/Android Games You Play!
« on: January 23, 2012, 02:32:42 pm »
I would like to create a thread to find out what games people play on Android and/or iPhone.

I personally own and iPhone and play cut the rope, angry birds (you know these) and this little gem. I found it recently and got addicted, since I've been a big fan of backgammon since childhood.

What apps would you suggest?

(iPhone/iTouch)
GeoDefense and GeoDefense Swarm - best tower defense I've ever played. I really wish they'd allow the ability to create and download user-made levels.
Fragger - similar to angry birds, but I found it more fun.
Archibald's Adventures - an old-school platformer with some really well-designed puzzles.
and of course good ol' solitaire.

I have an android galaxy nexus and have been playing Shadowgun and some Zenonia. Gameboid for sure, but that doesn't really count  :D.

When I had my iPhone, I played Wolf3D on it all the time.

Ridiculously motherfucking badass: http://www.idsoftware.com/iphone-games/wolfenstein-3d-classic-platinum/index.html

Now that I have a droid, I don't play games much. Possibly because I exclusively use it for getting shit done, in k9mail, connectbot (ssh client), and the main web browser.

Read the stickies all around the forum and the do not suggest list. Soldat cannot run on Android. It'd need to get *completely* rewritten. Soldat is well over 100k lines of Delphi and that'd need to get  ported to Java/OpenGL.

Lol... porting a 100k to Java would suck and would have like infinite bugs. And let's not mention the control interface of the game.

Actually Java code isn't akways buggy (because of how it forces you to catch all exceptions) and encourages better programming practices than Delphi. It'd be less buggy.

Delphi really is an extremely horrible language comapred to java. Essentially why I wrote the soldat lobby server in java instead of something else--I wanted it to be bug free, which it is.

It only ever crashes when the server hosting it dies/reboots

Well, from what I discovered in an iTouch SNES emulator, you can actually hook up a Wii controller via wifi and use that instead of a touch screen. With a Wii classic controller (a good ol' gamepad with two analog sticks) in theory Soldat on an android whould be very much playable. All that however is completely off-topic..

On-topic: Tried "Where is my Water" and liked it quite a bit. Fun stuff, almost halfway through it already.

Angry birds. Didn't really ever try any other games for Android than that other than a Rubik's cube. Apparently it takes me 9 minutes to solve it using touch screen though, while my time IRL is 2-3 minutes currently, so it was mostly annoying.

I might be trying to make some games/apps for it myself sometime soon. (Soldat mobile? :D)

<DutchFlame`> i once heard running runescape in the background gave you a speedboost
<Mr> yes, it allocates more electrons, so there are more electrons available for Soldat -> they are streched less and it is more fluent

New Android Space is quite good - new features finally. Also, I recommend you to try Labirynth Lite.
