no, I mean your gostek has to drop and draw at the same time, so then he would be using one hand for each task. And because dropping a weapon is instantaneous, unlike drawing, there's no point in this since he would be wasting time 'dropping' it.

Who said he must use one hand for each task? He would drop weapon with both hands and then use both hands to take another one from back.

And then it leads right back to normal switching... this idea is officially dead.

I'm not talking about how this is/would be animated in Soldat.
Look at this real-life example: a guy has a green backpack on his back and a red one in his hands. Putting red one on his back and green one in his hands takes much more time then dropping red one and taking green one from his back into his hands. Try it yourself.

okay, I see.  but I was actually arguing your second point (about dropping and drawing at the same time, which was so stupid it lead right back to to original suggestion)

Ah, I think I understand now. You referred to
maybe this move should be executed when player presses "drop weapon" and "change weapon" simultaneously?
didn't you?

Well, if a "switch time" setting is added to weapons.ini, the switch time can be set very low for fists. This way if you have no weapon at the moment - switching to other weapon (if any) will be faster.
This way you can drop-and-switch without messing up the controls and adding extra keys.

This would work, but only if throwing weapon would take less time than it takes now.
I like this idea.

Especially for knife users a modification to current weapon switching system would be very helpful. For example in TW, the knife is very weak compared to a law. Same probably goes for normal modes, as knife often does not kill.

I voted no.

But I feel like the weapon switching animation is a bit too long compared to the overal
frantic and fast-paced feel of Soldat.

Why not make it 10-20% faster?

F12

I would find this great.
I often fire my law and then drop it before switching weapons so I have the option to pick something else up later but because I fail at life most of the time I screw up in a number of different ways.
I often drop the law and pick something random of the ground before the switch is complete or manage to lose my primary gun and most commonly just fail to drop the law or drop it and pick it back up.
