I started playing Soldat around 2007-2008 I believe, and was an active member in this fine community, though I doubt anyone remembers me. I had started learning to code through this game, writing my own scripts in pascal and also I remember setting up a server me and my friends used to play on. I downloaded almost every one of Dairy's mods for the weapons, and had my weapon load outs in categories like European terrorists and U.S. Marines (Dairy's mods for weapons were absolutely amazing, I still can't believe how much work was put into them). I played online on the few good American servers just about everyday after school, made my own maps, and became a lover of these forums, for their soldat and non-soldat related topics. This community was awesome.
This post was mostly for nostalgic purposes, I may start playing again, but my laptop for college is a Mac
. I just wish I could go back and never stop playing this game, because it was really improving my computer knowledge greatly. I hope to get back into this game, but first I'll have to get it running on my Mac.
So, I know if I wanted to play I would have to either install Windows or a Windows emulator program. But would Linux work? I have very little experience with Linux, but I figure since this community has been so helpful in the past that they could help me out once again to get back into playing Soldat. How do I download and install Linux, and then get Soldat running on it, if that is even possible.
Thanks for reading guys, you're all awesome.
