What keyboard do you use?
« on: March 22, 2012, 09:13:33 pm »
I've spent the last year or so using a circa 1999 Dell Quiet key, because I've accidentally killed my sleak black logitechs with spilled beverages. When I used to buy fancy keyboards, I'd choose wired logitechs without any special features or buttons, because I use custom key combos for when I want fancy features.

So I've been hearing about Das Keyboards, the ones designed to emulate the classic "click" of the traditional and long since discontinued IBM Model M keyboards. I can't really justify spending over $100 USD on a keyboard, so I decided to go with the next best thing - a real IBM Model M keyboard! :D

I'm eagerly awaiting its arrival in the mail, and thank fuck the gaming rig I built last year has PS/2 ports!

So, what keyboards do you guys use?

Default Asus g74sx laptop keyboard, which isn't terrible for a laptop.

a real IBM Model M keyboard! :D

I gave one of those away along with an old computer from 1992. I'm dyin to get the keyboard back :D, man mechanical keyboards beat the rubber keyboards--and yeah I don't justify spending $100+ on a keyboard.. nuts.

Model M's, awesome. G'luck with your model M; buckling springs, oh yeah

I used a 'default' wired dell keyboard. Works for me.

I recently got my hands on the SteelSeries SteelKeys 6G V2 keyboard because I was tired of not being able to press any amount of keys at the same time (especially when making music). It also doesn't seem to have any unneccesary features like background lighting.

Didn't have time to try it yet. Will do when I get home today. :)

<DutchFlame`> i once heard running runescape in the background gave you a speedboost
<Mr> yes, it allocates more electrons, so there are more electrons available for Soldat -> they are streched less and it is more fluent

How does it compare to the Model M in terms of clickiness and oral feedback?

I hope you're not referring to the allegedly ergonomic ones that are split diagonally down the center? I used one for a day and damn near raged at it.

I use one of those IBM ones. I have since I got my pc years ago. It's really noisey, I would prefer something quieter. Also it's filthy :/

No, I would never pick something like that. I got RT2300 already...

I'm using the Das Keyboard at work. It's so rewarding getting a good speed going when coding. The sound and tactile feedback is amazing and makes you not want to stop typing. It's even got a PS/2 connector for added awesomeness.
