Well, i start this discussion topic cauze i seen something which pokes me a bit,

People here talk often about Soldat beeing a dead game already, infact it seems growing again, also if i look on KAG forum activity, Soldat is alot above it with guests, members etc online :O

So, what's the thing of saying this game is dead?
Also, the plans for the game Soldat wont just disappear, i guess?

all i see is that people in the forums post lesser, but after 10 years, wtf you wanna post there still that important xD

There's no denying that Soldat was significantly more popular several years ago than it is now.

As for the term "dying", I think that implies that the game has no players and development is stagnant.

Obviously, that is not the case as we have shoozza/others actively developing the game, and players are still playing it and posting on the forum.

So yeah, I agree with you.

Well, i use this post now quick for some other questions/ideas.

Basicly i think Soldat can grow again to a VERY popular game, people i showed the game in the past week were very addicted to the game.

The problem to get the ppl playing soldat is basicly that :
-No advertising, NOWHERE. (You cant find / know about the game if you dont know MM / KAG or a guy playing one of the games)
-Ugly Soldat adverts & videos, i've seen many videos etc about soldat, but new maps (which are looking like x10000 times better becauze they have nice shading/colouring and mostly a map theme,not stupid random polys placed) can i not find.
-ugly maps, aside some servers like the Zabijaka.pl server can you only play DEFAULT maps, it's horrible... they are bouncy, they are ugly and made in mapmaker (im working on this, i started this year again to map for Zombie Survival by Zabijaka.pl - maps can look really alot better with polyworks and anyway, i dont get why default maps still are that much played...)

So basicly, i think when some people would start an advertising campaign and there would be a cool video about some of the newer/niceish looking maps and propably Soldat runned in a cool mod, there could be found really, really alot of potential players for Soldat.

Im not talking that out of nowhere, i really tested how people like Soldat, my real friends play COD & BF and all that stuff, still i made 5 from 20 people start playing it addicted.

So, first - is it allowed to advert Soldat? I mean, could i just start myself such a campaign?
And the other thing is, i can not record good videos cauze my fps drops on every record software to unplayable shit^^
So if someone is willing to make a cool video of Soldat, me and the clan BCB are ready to help for it.

The other thing is.... propably it's too early to start that? - i readed we get new stuff in soldat... so should i better wait? Or is it up to me to start smth like that? (ofc i would only advert in german speaking forums/sites, since my english would just be a shame for the best game ever, soldat)

It's true, the majority of commonly played maps are default, which means they look like they're from 2002, with randomly placed polygons and just looking bizarre. I'm a strong fan of this sort of map, namely inf_Rise and inf_Moonshine, but they still look ugly as hell.

As soon as the attractive maps start playing better and replacing the old ones I'm sure that'll be better for the game's popularity.

to be honest, i dont know any more map-makers then myself and the one who did the climb-maps for your climb-server^^

the mapping issue is mostly because of the mapping team.. since 1.5 the only maps that were accepted were maps made by fryer, zakath, asdeespada and suow... which is the "map team".

And to the mapping issue, i've talked with asdeespada and im working allready on a map, to show him that i CAN actually rework some ctf maps to a better.

As far as i know , there's been plenty of topics like that with tons of arguments so i.think you're a bit late Loki :p but yeah join the movement , i guess it's better than nothing but like jrgp mentioned before the game was really popular back then and nowadays we lost many players and soldat is stagnant.I guess the devs are working in a good way to keep this game from dying and the community as well , let's see what the future has in store for us!
