A simple idea me and Keron agreed would be useful. Why not allow people to select DM maps to play HTF on? Most of the maps are ideal for the HTF gameplay.

No reason not to, but people should start making more htf maps too.

There have been plenty of HTF releases... Maybe there could be a HTF mapmaking contest or something for the updoming soldat versions...

Actually, I was surprised by the fact that there were dedicated HTF maps when HTF was implented. I mean, the DM maps have a yellow flag spawnpoint (unless the mapper is crappy), and I could imagine how fun it would be playing HTF on... say, Shau.

Toumaz: if there is no spawn (other than player spawn), the game will make one up. Go ahead. Make a polygon, place a spawn for yourself, and play RamboMatch. The bow will still appear, roughly in the center of the map.

See, I knew it. Not even half a day has passed and there are 15 hits against 1, and this person has not even posted why he voted 'no'.

It's all like I said from since the old Soldat forums ever since I first saw HTF. I instantly thought when I played it, "It's a 1337 time-based team version of PointMatch," but did anyone believe me? Nooo.

Then rainrider released htf_SuperPants and blew everyone away. :P

I said no, because DM maps are too large or too unbalanced.  Think about cambodia.  You'll never find the flag carrier there.  HTF maps need to be small-medium sized, and need to have lots of accessible areas.  DM maps just don't offer that.

Only anime shows I've felt any interest in over the years are Pokemon (original TV series) and various hentai.

Cambodia would offer extremely unique gameplay for HTF. You'd have to use team strategies to work together in flushing the carrier out of the tunnels.

The glory of the DM maps is that they're less like CTF maps, offering lots of advantages and disadvantages in certain areas. CTF styled HTF maps are too formulaic and mostly symmetrical.

In Halo2, you didn't see maps made specifically for Oddball, right? And the gameplay was still fun because of those certain areas that both teams would fight for when trying to hold the ball.

you can make them all htf accessable by just adding a flag somewhere on the map, then just send MM the maps and tell him to put them in the next version, then he doesnt even have to do anything.

All the default DM maps have a yellow flag on them, they have to have it for pointmatch.

Why not just both ways around?
To sum up my point: We had a multipage debate about toilet padding. (Putting TP in the water so you don't get splashed.)
And we still don't know if dead guys can keep a stiffy.

Everyone in htf_Desert would spawn in the same place, etc.

I can imagine some good HTF map concepts being HTF-only and not for DM, but none of the currently existing HTF maps fit this.

Unless you put standard spawn points... that should do.
That was a stupid post of mine, anyway. I'm not thinking much lately, too much work kills me. x_x

I guess htf_Arch would be pretty cool as DeathMatch if you styled its spawn points likewise... but not all of 'em, definitley not

I agree with idea.
Perhaps this will make htf more popular.
I often only find one server to play.  :(

I like this idea, htf needs a larger selection of maps and the dm maps are perfect.

I have full support of this idea.
