New gaming experience!
« on: June 11, 2006, 07:30:19 pm »
Just imagine the new gaming experience you would get if you play with two mice instead of one.  In soldat, the left mouse would control movement and the right would control combat.  With this configuration (see below) you would be able to fly toward a point (using your jets) that is completely independent from your aiming direction.

Analysis:
Most of you will probably not have thought about this but:
The problem with this is that the screen as it currently is has center exactly between the (aiming) mouse cursor and the player.  That would throw your directional mouse cursor off quit a bit.  For that the solution would come to have a separate, circular mini-hub in the corner of the screen to which the movement mouse cursor is bounded.  That way, your direction will always be the relative direction from the hub's center to the mouse.  Here's a picture:

Dude, no offence but I don't like this idea at all, would be incredibly hard to get used to.
Sorry man, but I don't support it.

in general, don't you like the idea of having two mice for your computer?  The true answer is yes, but many will not like it because they're too go***mned lazy to get used to a new environment.  With no change nothing good can happen.  In the future when we will have two mice, this idea would be marvelous!

Every single one of my fingures on my right hand has 1 or 2 buttons assigned to it. And I still wish I had more fingures. I dont think putting everything on the mouse is going to make me faster.

Yeah! Lets all go out and buy these 2 mouses to play this game, then get used to it, which will take ages! What a great idea!

This will totoally mess up the game. You would need good hand and eye coordination, which most people don't have. This idea will not be put in, trust me.

This idea wasn't so much about soldat as it was about the concept of having two mice.  Anyways i was just trying to make you imagine what it would be like to have two mice operating in windows.  If I wanted this to be implemented I would have posted it in the game improvement section.

Btw flab, why don't you censor his flaming?

Your acting like your having a duel and your opponent gets a pistol and you get a spork.
Isn't that pretty much what it is? I dunno wtf a spork is, I suppose it's way weaker than the pistol since you compared that to this.

This seems a little far out there. I couldn't imagine trying to use Windows, let alone play Soldat, with two mice. I'm too emotionally attached to my keyboard. I will never let go.

By the way... it doesn't matter how many mice you plug in. There is only one pointer. I tried like 4+ years ago.

Even if two pointers showed, I still cannot envision any future with two mice. It's not practical, at all.
