Devlog update (2013-08-11) Chugga Chugga Choo! Choo!
« on: August 11, 2013, 03:06:39 pm »

All aboard the next version train!

1.6.5 has been out a week now and seems spared from urgent bugs, so we've been able to focus on the upcoming version instead. We're trying to have a faster release cycle now. So instead of massive updates once per year, we want to do smaller ones several times per year.

We have some awesome major features planned for 1.7, but they'll take some time to finalize, so if some of them aren't ready before a certain date in the near future we might release a 1.6.6 instead.

So here are some of the things we did this last week that you can look forward to in the next version:
  • I added the ability to roll out of prone when you're on the ground
  • Fixed that new bug that makes players look like they're proning when they're not
  • Fixed that annoying bug that makes you sometimes lose momemtum when coming out of a roll
  • Fixed some animation glitches that interrupted weapon switching, Spas reload, weapon throwing, knife throwing when getting in or out of prone
  • Falcon as usual fixed lots of scripting stuff that I am ignorant about
  • Shoozza was a workhorse when it came to code cleanup. The cleaner the code gets the easier it gets to fix bugs and implement new features

How about this? It's really ruining Dodgeball mode since knives get blocked in mid air.

when they decide to bring the bloodsaw back >:(

I'm heartbroken about it

Although kinda useless, i am looking forward to the roll out of prone ability.

I totally agree, I also think this is some kind of a bug that needs a fix ASAP, as I understand from an answer to my topic, it doesnt only block knives but it blocks bullets aswell, must be very annoying.

Besides that, i'm glad how soldat is progressing like it is atm

Yeah there will be one. But not in the near future. Porting the client is way more work than the server.

I was just having thoughts if I'd buy a mac ever. I seriously thought of Soldat as a major consideration. :D

Heard it's working flawlessly
Could anyone with a mac do a 1.6.5 test and mention detailed specifications of the mac?

That's not a port that's it running in a prepackaged wine environment. I'll try it out later though.

I can get Soldat to kind of work smoothly on my mac under Win7/VMWare fusion with DirectX enabled. This isn't something you can do on VirtualBox though as Fusion offers more advanced emulation features.

Specs: MacMini - OS X 10.7 / Lion, Core i5 w/HT 2.5GHz (4 cores), 16GB DDR3 RAM,  Radeon HD 6630M w/ 256MB

So you used something called 'Fusion' to run it on a mac?

It's just the version of VMWARE that runs on Mac: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VMware_Fusion

I installed VMWare Fusion, made a Windows 7 virtual machine, and installed Soldat in the VM and it runs using emulated DirectX.
