... Then in one part of the universe there's Oprah as president.
NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! :'(

Not only that, but with a single keystroke they'd all type out every work that has ever been written, every work that WILL be written, every work that has never and will NEVER be written, and a WHOLE lotta crap in-between ;D I don't like that analogy tho' because there will eventually become the chance that some monkeys will pick the same keys, x infinity.

Dascoo, here's how the theory currently works: since there are an infinite number of universes, that means that there is a universe for every possibility. Ie., in the same way that an infinite number of monkeys with an infinite number of typewriters will eventually type out the complete works of shakespeare; with an infinite number of universes, anything that can be imagined must exist in at least one. There can be universes without gravity, for instance (in fact, one model shows that the gravity we see in our universe is actually leaking over from another one close to us, which is why gravity is so weak compared to the other forces we see).

Another interesting facet of this theory is that if we assume that some fraction of those universes must contain life, then there are an infinite number of lifeforms out there since any fraction of infinity is still infinity.

So, in a way, that's your theory. However, yours is inherently flawed because our universe, by itself, is not infinite, which means that there can't be an infinite number of possibilities (or earths) as we would see with an infinite number of universes.

Yeah i understand that, but what I'm saying is that maybe there is just 1 universe, no multiverse. It just goes on and on.

I heard that if you had an infinite number of monkeys with an infinite number of typewriters, they'd all starve to death...

Oh well. Live and learn I guess.

Hehe, f*cking monkey trainers always forget to stock the infinite monkey food.

Yeah i understand that, but what I'm saying is that maybe there is just 1 universe, no multiverse. It just goes on and on.

And I'm telling you that that just doesn't happen.  Our universe is finite.  The chances that life, alone, exists elsewhere in this universe is slim, the chance that there's a planet out there that mirrors earth approaches nil, and the chance that there are more than one of these is practically impossible.

I think he could make a door he couldn't open in some fashion we don't understand, I mean, we only use 10% of all our brains, remember.
That claim is incorrect. We may only use a small part of the brain at one time, but over a long enough time, most of the brain will be used as the different areas of the brain are responsible for different functions.

Hehe, f*cking monkey trainers always forget to stock the infinite monkey food.
Easy, they just feed some of the infinite amount of monkeys to the rest of them.

can anyone explain what's this site on about with it's "maps of the universe" ?
http://www.astro.princeton.edu/~mjuric/universe/ - are they actually saying 'space indeed has a limit, and here it is' ?
anyone?

No, that map is a small cone of space from the Earth to a little past the Big Bang, which seems to be as far that direction as we can currently see or at least measure (the majority of this map was created through background microwave radiation measurements, not light).

You can see the whole report on this map here (.pdf).

The chance of life out there is slim? There's alot of galaxies, with billions of stars. Even if one out of two galaxies had life that's still huge amount of life.

I keep on forgetting about the universe be finite lol....Yeah I always think as the universe being infinite and just yeah.

But wouldn't it just be one universe? with infinite bubbles?

If that's the way you look at it... To me, one or two galaxies with life out of about 1011 or 1012 galaxies is slim.  Then consider that very few stars in those galaxies would contain life, so that's a few stars out of about 1022 to 1024, which is a really slim number [source].

1. Maybe. Like homey188 said, it expands so fast that you couldn't reach the edge. Some people say that beyond the edge of this universe, there's another universe, which is full of alternate universes.

2. Time paradox.

3. I've thought about this, there is no way of knowing, I think. And no, they can't see colours outside the visible colour spectrum.

4. PLACENTA

Edit: oh wow, way to edit your post and add the stuff I was writing :(

Could someone please question these answers?

Ah yes, but could one open the door? If God cannot open the door, who can? What is to define it as a door? If there is a door no one can open, does any man have the key?

Well isn't each universe in a sort of bubble? Wait I forget what a bubble is 0_0...ok now I remember. So anyways isn't the universe everything including those other universes so it wouldnt be a multiverse, just the universe....see my point? I'm confused also....

1. Is space endless? And if not, where does it end, and whats on the other side Sad

Okay.. It does end.. its kinda like.. A hard wall.. that cant be broken beyond this wall is nothingness where all the dead peoples memorys go.. and thats all you need to know..

2. If you were God, and could do absolutely anything, could you make a door you could not open?

NO! i would make it really tricky to open ;)

3. Do people see different colours? i.e. My green might be your blue, or my black would be your white. And if so, can they see different colours that do not appear in my personal colour spectrum???

Yes they do.. I had this lense that changed everything to green once.

4. When will the throne of the magic Tom Cruise be overtaken?

Its called eddy murfy.

THIS IS DRIVING ME INSANE??!?!?!

Yes it is

There is something called the Bubble Universe Theory, which is a funky idea in which every universe that exists budded from one original universe.  It's a pretty funky idea, and I'm not sure it was widely accepted because it probably wasn't backed up by much actual math.

One popular theory of today, M-Theory (exactly the same as string theory but with an added dimension), states that each universe in the 11th dimension is a shifting, undulating membrane with its own set of physical laws and properties.  It also postulates that perhaps what created the big bang and the resulting pressure waves was when two such universes collided and created the new universe that we live in today.

Take your pick.

Ah, but you see, that itself had a beginning as soon as it was created. One day, when the earth explodes, it will no longer exist. Along with lots of other things. The earth is going to be destroyed one day or another.

I see good old Geologist still analizes every unimportant post to the smallest grain between rock analisis and rock gatherings ^_^

Answer these ones for me... having the answers for these questions would be my salvation...

1: Why do radical emos wear freddy krueger shirts?
2: can there be cold without heat? or is cold just the name given to the LACK of heating energy?
4: why do certain male body parts resemble bananas in some people but in my case resemble a mushroom?
5: why do people like penguins?

Thank you :) the answers will save humanity... someday.... somehow
I should write something in latin here to sound smart :)

As for the "God making a door he cannot open", the answer is yes. God would create a door that cannot be opened, then since he can do ANYTHING, he would make himself CEASE to be omnipotent, meaning he wouldn't be able to open the door, or do anything spectacular anymore.

Though the general answer to this is that there is no answer. If he can create the door, then he ceases to be omnipotent, if he can't, he never was omnipotent. it's a omnipotent paradox.

EDIT: As for Infernales questions:
1: Why do radical emos wear freddy krueger shirts?
They like the shirts or think they are trendy, thus they wear them.
2: can there be cold without heat? or is cold just the name given to the LACK of heating energy?
Yes there can be cold without heat. When you get rid of the heat you get cold. As for the second part, cold is the same as darkness. Where is no light, there is is darkness. Darkness is just the absense of light, not an actual thing. Just as cold is the absense of heat, not an actual thing.
4: why do certain male body parts resemble bananas in some people but in my case resemble a mushroom?
Because of a genetic problem, freak.
5: why do people like penguins?
Because they look like little people in tuxedos.

1. Is space endless? And if not, where does it end, and whats on the other side

I just read "A brief history of time" by Stephen Hawking (Really good book, read it if you can), and apparently it's reckoned that the Universe curves on itself, so if you went in a straight line for long enough you'd end up in the place you started (Although thats impossible, as you'd have to travel faster than light).

Kind of like Earth, but with 4 dimensions (Z X Y and Time)
