The Irish company Steorn Ltd. claims to have created a perpetual motion machine, violating the energy conservation law and numberous other laws. The technology is magnetic, but no electromagnetivity is used. They have also recently challenged the world's leading scientists and thinkers to review their technology. Read more here and here. wow...more technology that makes people happy short term, but wrecks millions of jobs, causing the world into a new depression.

I'd like perpetual motion.  Really, I would.

But I find their actions to be highly suspect.

1) The technology has worked, but only behind closed doors.
2) They will allow twelve scientists to test the device, but only the twelve that the company hand picks.

Long story short, they want validation by the scientific community but they won't let the scientific community validate their device (except for those twelve hand picked, and obviously unbiased individuals).

In my opinion a publicity stunt, and a crock of sh*t.  But I'd love to be proven wrong.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams it is
still a beautiful world.  Strive to be happy.

I don't know what to think about the supposed free energy machine.  Everyone has alway know perpetual motion cannot exist.  However, people have also been constantly proven wrong.

"Radio has no future. Heavier-than-air flying machines are impossible. X-rays will prove to be a hoax." -- William Thomson, Lord Kelvin, British scientist, 1899.

"There is not the slightest indication that nuclear energy will ever be obtainable. It would mean that the atom would have to be shattered at will." -- Albert Einstein, 1932.

"Louis Pasteur's theory of germs is ridiculous fiction." -- Pierre Pachet, Professor of Physiology at Toulouse, 1872.

"The abdomen, the chest, and the brain will forever be shut from the intrusion of the wise and humane surgeon." -- Sir John Eric Ericksen, British surgeon, appointed Surgeon-Extraordinary to Queen Victoria 1873.

I mean, what are the odds that everything we think we know about the universe is correct?  Obviously the concept of perpetual motion seems unlikely, but who knows?  If this has really been built and is not a hoax, you won't find me complaining.

Only anime shows I've felt any interest in over the years are Pokemon (original TV series) and various hentai.
so clearly jgrp is a goddamn anime connoisseur. his opinion might as well be law here.

It looks like a battlebot. All it needs is wheels and a more kickass name, like Doominator.
