Well we will need some information about your OS and hardware to try and help
Also Akinaro I do not think Drivers is a lame question, sure Soldat should work with the most updated drivers fine but unfortunately we know this is not the case. For example my laptop is quite old and shitty, it has an Intel GMA 965 graphic card once when I had to reinstall windows it updated to the newest driver and I was plagued with fps problems in Soldat. I did some quick googling and found some custom drivers (called Sherry I believe) installed them and then it worked like a charm. Of course doing things like this is your own risk.
If I remember correctly GameBooster only really helps if you have quite a high end gaming pc setup, for more just everyday pcs/laptops you will not really see a difference. All I can suggest would be to play around with the soldat config, here is what I suggest:
- Turn OFF vsync, Animated Scenery, Dithering, Antialiasing.
- FullScreen or Windowed test and find out what works better.
- Fps Limiter or Resolution Timer ONLY use one of these options not both. They do the same thing, I suggest fps limiter and set 200.
- Bitrate 32
- Refresh Default.
- Resolution: Apparently best fps will be achieved using the same resolution as your monitor. But for me this was never the case, I am on 800x600 in windowed mode resized to like 96% and this gives me stable 66 fps all time. When I try fullscreen with my monitors resolution which is 1280*800 it all seems fine but when everyone starts shooting then the fps drops to 30-40 which is not good at all. This setting really depends on your PC i think so just keep trying some.
- Performance Tab: Even Less, and turn off ALL the renders. You do not need the bullet trails, there are numerous mod packs you can find that colour your bullets so you can still see them great(qb modpack, Aimless, zdichu one for example.)
- Back Buffer count set this to 1.
- Texture & Resolution filter I just use Default, but if your are playing windowed mode with some resize I believe Anisotropic will look a little nicer but you may lose some fps. ActionSnap OFF(useless feature anyways!)
I never demo either, no idea if this effects fps at all though. Also map textures for some reason some maps just seem to cause more problems than others, I do not really like changing the map texture to BLACK but for some of the smaller maps maybe it is a good idea as this does seem to help for some reason. Especially on ctf_X and ctf_Lava my pc seems to have fps jumps on these maps worse than others.
Also try running Soldat.exe with Admin privileges and try ticking the "Disable desktop composition" if your on win7, I do not use the run as XP mode as does not seem to do anything better for me but you can try. You can also try selecting the Soldat.exe process in your task manager and setting it to a higher priority.
Well those are all my tips for getting better fps, hope that helps. And Akinaro before you go on your rant that Soldat SHOULD work fine, it doesn't and we all know it so stop the rants and lets try and help the guy
