Server munching on huge chunk of resources

wow havent posted anything here for a while  :-X

I'm getting notifications from my mate that one of my servers is eating up 99% of CPU's core. Do you think it might be the way certain scripts were coded? How can I possibly check that?

hah funny enough i had killlogs dating back to the beginning of 2012

You might want to learn to use strace so you can get an idea as to what a process is doing / why it's using CPU. It probably would have shown you the process was browsing through the directory stuck on a readdir or similar.
