Hello everyone,

like mentioned in the devlog we need better screenshots for soldat.pl.
Anyone has some awesome ones we could use for the website?

Thanks for the topic Shoozza, I tried to make some as I said but yeah they might not look appealing, or ? (might be better than some existing though, quite sure).

I used default soldat settings & no filter.
No action in terms of enemies is shown here though.

By the way: the screensho viewing 'code' is pretty bad. It will just redirect to the image so you can't even skip to the next / previous image. Would be nice to have a slideshow.

Daww darDar isn't in multiplayer.

Wait, the existing screenshots aren't considered very good? VTT's maps are pretty (well that's a given).

I think the screenshots should be limited to default maps, so new players don't download the game expecting to see the maps that were on the screenshots. Screenshots don't even show the name of the map, so new players don't even know where to get them.

Luckily we have some decent-looking remakes (and even some default maps): Airpirates, Daybreak, Factory, ctf_Ash, ctf_Kampfer, inf_Belltower are pretty photogenic.

Agreed... What they see in screens should also be what they get their hands on right away. If it were only the best looking maps well virtualtt would have supplied them all;)

There was 90% custom and modded stuff shown in the previous screenshots for the past 90 years. I think there is nothing wrong to show custom stuff. Soldat is a game of modding.

If soldat.pl wouldn't be such a rusty 1999 crap website it would be easy to give each screenshot a title(default soldat, modded soldat) and you could actually view multiple images in a slideshow.

Doesn't mean that's a good thing. Just nobody bothered to do it right.

I too think there's nothing wrong with showing off some mods and custom maps, but there should at least be a note that what's on the screenshot is not representative of the default version. So until there is some way to show that - we should stick to defaults.

Also set the resolution to 800x600, otherwise it looks like pixelized crap. And come on, soldat is one big mod, you should make use of it and show at the screenshots how customizable and flexible it is.

I think custom shows the potential of the game, and if done properly (title/description), can give the preliminary sense that, yes, this game can be edited/modded (especially the mech mod screenshots).

because they're showing vanilla soldat and some action in it

there could also be a mix of various screenshot, vanilla action + pictures with nice aesthetics

Could be interesting to predominantly show vanilla soldat but also sneak in a few pics of (mutually agreed upon) cool looking mods/interfaces.
