What happened?
« on: August 22, 2015, 08:08:00 am »
I used to play this game like 5 years ago or so, it was super fun and i was really enjoying it. Usually it had around 600 online at the same time. I remember playing beo's knife only and it was packed, i also remember huge zombie maps where you would gather money and you could actually save your progress. I remember the hillarius Saw only maps, a lot of fun. So what happened? Only 30 player online? How did people leave so fast, is there any alternative game like this except LieroX and Teeworlds?

Nah, progress has slowed down a lot in the recent time. Time goes on, and Soldat's still old. ;)

Soldat's like a black and white movie. It takes culture to like it. It's a great game; it's just that PS4's are apparently more appealing...

Nah, it's just because soldat has many issues with modern hardware and OSes.

There wouldn't have been a decline like this if the game had continued to be fully functional.

I never played zombie maps and I don't quite know what maps you're looking for but here's a place to look:

Maybe someone else can help me. It was a zombie map where you would get money for every kill and survival of the round. Than you could buy stuff like items, vests, grenades and even stationary guns. It was one of the most popular ones when i was araund.

Hey Derp, there were plenty of custom-made servers that had scripts like that running. The number of maps made for zombie mode in mind is high, so you need to be more specific. ;)

I used to have practically every Soldat zombie map, but that was years ago... sorry! Too bad Domino's server isn't up. It had a ton of them.

Issued warning for Name. If you want to talk about problems with signature do it in a civil way. Over PM with me. Or post it in proper section without offending anyone.

Also cleared the topic from these nonsense posts.

To stay kind of on topic: Watch closely current development of Soldat. Spam Shoozza so he will post a weekly update and stop being secretive about things.

people are seriously not smart if they believe that an older release would be better than the most recent one.

Actually there is loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooots of situation when older is better, starting from cars ending in system OS or games :]

But if we talk about Soldat, lets see current version(tested on 3 different laptops and two type of network).

*In terms of performance its hilarious bad, and even 1.7 beta just suck power of CPU more than 3D games from 2014. As I talk with other people, Im not alone with that, lots of peope complain that CPU usage is WAY to big.
People on public 1.6.9 servers have weird lags and its kick them for ping without a warning, and funny thing I get that few times on 1.7 too... so you know "something new is there that F thing up" :D
*Now lets see actual gameplay.... To be honest beside different WM and some small changes in jumping... typical player would not see the difference...
Old players always will complain about it, so asking them about difference is like asking your grandfather how it was "back then" they always say it was better.
Thats why typical random player is best for checking comparison. They are not biased, they dont care, they check actual facts

*Graphic? Well I would like to see someone that see difference here...
*Server related stuff... yes there are more options for scripts... but still overall experience from playing/managing it is the same for most of people...

So like old saying goes: "Just because something is new it doesn't mean that its better"
Old but still good saying.

I dont see reason for making anything. You have here lots of people who like to talk about maps, ask them when they stop talking and start making something -_-

Well, I got like 30% cpu usage on soldat process. So I'd like to know if it's happening only to dummies like me or anyone else experiences high cpu usage too.
I've recently updated to win 10 x64 and I'm not really sure if there was such cpu usage back on win 7.

Wait for next release, I added some cpu usage improvements.

I would generally agree that new doesn't mean better (and more often than not it means worse). But honestly I will laugh at anyone preferring older versions once 1.7 is finished. 1.6.9 and below feels like playing on a freaking horse.
