Soldat World Cup
« on: August 27, 2006, 04:18:42 pm »
The draw has been made. Matches will begin shortly. If you're interested you can take a look and follow the teams on their road to victory! Or defeat. If you register, bets will be made too on the forum betting system when the schedule of matches is published. Or on the winners of the group.

All the time?

Players for national teams are usually picked by a team captain ( either self-selected, or it's someone who the community trusts ). With big communities, like Finland and Poland it's tough, with smaller ones, where the well-known players aren't in high numbers, it's easy.

If you feel you should've get selected, but you didn't... well, your fault for not being active in the clan scene ( good players are there, DUH ) or on IRC. If they don't know you, they don't select you, right?

Otherwise, some coverage:

The groups, after randomly drawn, look like this....

Group A

France
United Kingdom
Hungary
Portugal
Slovenia

Group B

Brazil
Czech Republic
Poland
Austria
Russia

Group C

Benelux
USA
Germany
Slovakia

Group D

Israel
Finland
Canada
Turkey

The toughest groups are A and C; group D has Euro-cup winners Finland and all the other laggy teams. Group B has our only south american contestants, Brazil, and the fearsome teams of Poland and Czeh republic.

The first match has already been played, Poland beat Brazil 2-0. ( With a tight match on Ash! )

An Australian team should be introduced next time... I know that there is a reasonably large and good Soldat communtiy over here, even if we aren't well known on the world stage...
