Soldat is now available on Steam!

Dear Soldaters,

The moment many of us have been so patiently waiting for has finally arrived. We're happy to announce that Soldat has just been published on Steam!
The version on Steam is an improved version of Soldat 1.7.1. A full change-log will follow on the steam page once bugfixes are done.

On top of that, the source for Soldat 1.8 will go open-source in the next week.

We would like take this as an opportunity to thank the developers team who invested so many hours into improving this game that we all hold so dearly.

80-90% of servers have ping 9999 in lobby. Refreshing the lobby does absolutely nothing. These servers are working normally and after joining the ping is 0-33!

In my opinion, it would be better to have one version of the game (steam) for everyone. And link to steam version on soldat.pl website. There would be no problems like this.

Haven't played this since 2007. I've totally forgotten about this game and the steam release has brought me back. Rewriting a server mod I had back then which I can't find in my backups anymore. So hyped about this!

I'm unable to get anybody to join my game. I'm stuck in the 9999 Ping issue. I forwarded my ports, took down my firewall, DMZ'd my local IP and even bypassed my router completely. I tried all of this with both the Steam and Soldat.pl versions. Still unable to have people join my game. Had my friend try and still no luck. Is this a known bug?

In a month or two the situation will be the same as before the steam release. That's all about BIG steam release! And now the best and funniest thing... "Con Aimbot" (cheat that programisius shared everyone on this forum) still works on this STEAM VERSION. Great Job! XDD And finally, problem with ping 9999 on the version without steam *. Even that doesn't work properly. But let's enjoy the steam release! Everything is great! XD

* Old players think that half of the servers are down because ping is 9999. Congratulations, well done!

Thanks to helloer and a couple of others, I figured out that my IP is dynamic from my ISP(costs extra for a static one). My workaround is hamachi/zerotier/noip and I'm up and running now.

Plays the worst it's ever done, it feels totally numb, bullets have no impact at all.
There's no new menu, no match making, it's just 1.7 with an even worse wm.

This is basically about 7 bullets to kill vs 11 bullets to kill. The guns are even so inaccurate now that you can't aim for the upper part of a soldat, the RNG will push a random amount of bullets above the target... You literally just have to aim for center of mass.
Absolute garbage, way to ruin soldat.

It will probably work on native steam for linux if you enable "steam play" for your entire steam library, which enables steam's built in wine-fork for all games.

Or they forgot that they're hosting servers lol - I remember like 1-2 years ago there were even still servers on 1.4.2 and 1.5, even downloaded those versions back then to check out wth was happening; on 1.5 basically one hacker was slaying some total noobs back then XD

It happened because MM butchered game by forcing release on Steam before dev-team finished 1.8, fixing major issues and adding all the nice new stuff they were working on and wanted to add. GG
I hope he wont fuck up the 2nd one in same way - by leaving development of it before it's done
