No one names themselves Gamer_2k4, so I assume people are not impressed by me and therefore do not wish to emulate me.  Having people name themselves after you is a good thing (unless they suck and end up giving you a bad name).

Only anime shows I've felt any interest in over the years are Pokemon (original TV series) and various hentai.
so clearly jgrp is a goddamn anime connoisseur. his opinion might as well be law here.

OK... I need to clear a few things up.

For one thing, my name on the forums is "a girl!". My name on Soldat is "a girl! [Jen]". JEN IS MY NAME. Someone is running around with my name and it bugs the c*** outta me.

Also, I have been bullied and harrassed because I am a girl. I have put up with so much idiocy because people (a) don't believe there are girls on the internet, (b) don't believe me when I say I'm a girl and feel the need to push me around with "he's not a girl" type insults. One member  has gone so far as to "spread the word" of my "non-feminism" so people I've never played with before have no respect or trust for me. So now that someone is running around pretending to be me... I think this is the most frusterated I've ever been in my life because there is nothing I can do to stop it.

A name change is due, I can agree with that, and I'm going to register my current screen name. But if this c*** keeps up, I'm not going to keep playing Soldat.

It's only happening because you are a girl on the Internet playing a game filled with a number of CS-level idiot teen males (no offense to anyone :) ). A name change will fix everything -- and not to something like "hot grrl 4 u!" :P -- unless this person has some more personal link to you. I know when I had created a female character once on-line and gave her a female name, I got all kinds of unwanted attention. Really, this shouldn't be a surprise to you since I'd assume you've been using that name for some time. It's just an unfortunate side effect of the anonymity of the Internet that people can be complete jerks and social misfits without any real repercussion.

I had the same problem with the name 'a boy' ... the bullying, the kicking off servers, the general sexist idiocy. I just play Barbie's Pony Adventure offline now.

Name copiers are suprisingly common in Soldat. Why, I dunno. Not really much you can do about it mind, 'cept have a word with them, change your name, or wait for them to get bored.

...and yeah, as the post above mentions, being female can attract unwanted attention in a game that is dominated by pastey-skinned little boys. Being non-sexual on the 'net is the best way to go.

Which is exactly why it's a very good idea to come up with a name that is fully origional.  For instance, I play as "HN-73r".  Pronounce it like "Hunter".
To sum up my point: We had a multipage debate about toilet padding. (Putting TP in the water so you don't get splashed.)
And we still don't know if dead guys can keep a stiffy.

[Jen] implies that you're female, so isn't having a girl! and [Jen] in your nickname kind of redundant? [Jen] or just Jen would be just fine I think.

Nobody believes there are no girls on the internet. They may or may not believe that you're a girl, but chances are that the purpose of the "he's not a girl" type insults is to get a reaction from you. For some people, encountering someone on the internet with a girl's name is enough to justify asking stupid questions, swearing, and being a general annoyance. Advertising your gender by putting a girl! in your nick name is practically an invitation to them. It sounds like your reaction only makes it worse.

The people who harass you about being female are idiots anyway, and so is anyone who believes it when they hear that you're not a girl rather than coming to their own conclusions. So why do you care what they think?

Here is the secret to dealing with idiots on the internet: ignore them. (Or amuse yourself by toying with them, but that is for the more advanced users ;> )

That would probably make them happy.

Jessica uses a different screename in Soldat, so no one knows she's a girl... (I'm not saying it. :P) I think CheeSeMan's idea is good. :)

Actually Anna, there is one person in an INF game who was quite adamant that there were no girls on the internet and he would persist to tell other players who objected that they did not know the truth, only he knew it.
Jen, I obviously present during that game and many others you have been subjected to harassment, but dont let it get to you.  I guess the truth of the matter is they are growing kids trying to cope with the fact that a girl keeps m79'ing them.  Dont let them get to you, if you do, they win.

Camping Carl in general is a pretty generic name when it comes to the internet, im sure there are dozens of them amongst the various counter strike, battlefield, or soldat games.

Just change your name to something else. Having "a girl" as your nickname doesn't really help with the whole "anti-girl" thing you're talking about. It's like having "a homo" as your nickname - you don't have to shout about your differences in the public.

But if you don't like people making fun of you, change your name. The foreign language idea is prety good.

LOL, I like how you picked Italian as one of the foreign languages. :P

I decided to cut "a girl!" out of my screen name so I'll see how that works out.
