[request] Delete Own Threads?
« on: August 31, 2006, 02:33:44 am »
I reckon it would be a good idea if people could delete they're own threads, but they cant delete it if somebody has replied to it, and they only have a 30 minute period that they are allowed to delete the post (30 minutes after posting the thread)

I think you can already do this, not sure though.

no, I've removed the ability for people to delete their own threads so that they can't "destroy the evidence" if they post something that is against the rules and people start telling them that.  People who break the rules deserve to get caught.

but flieslikeabrick, couldnt people just edit there post if they wanted to change stuff? i dont see how that would matter if they could delete it, becayse they can edit it, unless an original copy of the thread is saved for the admins...then i would say no to deleting.

yes, but editing their post won't keep people from quoting what they originally posted.  deleting the thread would delete their post, as well as anyone who quoted what they originally posted (people are smart enough to quote their post to preserve what they posted, knowing they may edit it)

But he said you can't delete your thread if someone replied to it...

What about locking a thread? I really want to lock the poll I made in the testing forum. :P

You can request to get your threads locked by asking the admin

-- I said, you cant delete the thread if somebody has replied to it, so if somebody has quoted what you've said then you cant delete, and if nobody's replied then you CAN delete it...

this forum doesn't have a way to set it so that you can't delete your thread if someone replied.
