calm down guys, I'm still working on it. You need to have 25 posts to use karma, and you can't mod someone +1 or -1 within 3 hours
If this works out, it might be nice to add a list to the statistics page of the people with the highest karma. Although, at the moment it just seems like one big popularity contest.

No, this isn't meant to be a contest. This is meant to be simply an indicator of how much people think other people know about what is going on, how to mod something, how to map, how to run servers, etc etc. This is for your use so you know whose opinion to trust, not so you have a bigger e-penis.
I think the karma is more of a "is this person cool or not?" kind of thing. If we took away the smite button, it'd become just like the THANKS! system on facepunch. In my opinion, the thanks thing sucks. Having a negative side to the whole thing helps distinguish who truly doesn't do much other than troll, etc.Although i think the names should be set to [WIN] and [FAIL].

No, seriously; people will get bored of whoring karma after a few days I recon.
Perhaps you should contribute a little. On another note, I'd really like to see that 'smite' button go away. I'm pretty sure the idea was to measure how much you've helped out, not how much you haven't. So if people don't think you've contributed anything, they simply won't give you any karma.
You know, to destroy karma abusing entirely, have the person only be able to + or - one person per 24 hours. It works well on other forums.
Seriously people why do you hate me? I have - 18 karma already, Ds Dude has better karma then me ;_;Date Posted: September 03, 2006, 04:45:09 PMTheres no limit FM, just not on same person

... just don't post about it, please.
