hi,i want to know in your opinion which one is better m79 or berrat i set up this poll to see what would you prefer.And i want you to battle it out here.

say f12 if you think m79 is better and tell me why.

say f11 if you think berrat is better and tell me why.

stats will be out for everyone to see

actually i dont select one of those, i use other weapons (mostly automatics).
but when i do have to select, i will choose m79.
why?
because you dont have to pull the trigger longer like barret (u know what i mean) and its also deadly if you miss.
when you have a socom as secondary, you'll be a deadly person (which also means for the barret btw)

so i selected m79.
but not because i like it much more. i look at them a bit thesame.

Barrett, because it's funnier to see a guy ripped in half by a .50 caliber bullet then being blown up for some reason.

I like them both because theyre pretty much the only weapons that can make someone gasp in awe(at a good shot or whatnot)..while autos just shoot constantly :X
I just chose m79 because its less annoying to me.

I enjoy using both weapons, and my choice largely depends on what map is being played. Out of pure enjoyment of using the weapon though, I'll stick with the barret. Pulling off difficult, long-ranged shots just in time to save the flag just can't be matched by the M79 in my opinion.

Barrett by far.
It's much more fun to use and yes those incredible shots with it are quite hilarious.
Plus, its a rifle and not a grenade launcher, I'd prefer a rifle over a grenade launcher any day.

I don't use any of them these days but chose M79 since I used to use it back when I first started with 56k connection and super-lag-noob-cannon-glory reigned supreme.

Because the M79 is a poor weapon and only good for it's boosting qualities. If this were strictly going by ability to take on another person one-on-one, you'd pretty much have to choose barret. The only one-on-one encounter where the M79 should have the upper hand would be versus the chainsaw or knife. Really, weapon choice as for which is "better" will always depend on the mode being played, the situation, number of people, map, etc.

But the barrett's accuracy while moving is more poor. The m79 arc is generally much more accurate and follows a nice arced path. The barret bullet is straight but it tends to vary its angle while you are moving. Anyways I like barrett better since it has such a long range.

It doesnt take as long to reload between shots

You dont tk as much

You cant kill urself lol

And it shoots straight

The M79 is almost never used for its original purpose: blowing fools up from behind hills. I don't hate it as much as the people who use it like a shotgun.
The Barrett is like Duck Hunt: fun to use/play, but requires less skill to get good at it than other weapons. Plus I stole someone's yesterday and then used it to kill them.

I hate that term, people just think that because they manage to nail some majors and they die right away because it's more noticeable. Go play a GOOD Barret user first before using terms like that.

Barret is in all ways(except for one) better.

Barret has:

1. Range
2. Power
3. Scope
4. shots come in as rounds, not reloads.

M79 has:

1. Power
2. No delay
3. No bink

so, barret is ONLY beat by m79 at EXTREME close ranges where the m79 will fire and hit before barret's delay is over.

Since barret is 10 round's, I can throw nades while it advances to my next shot.

If you throw nades while your m79 is reloading, it will pause the reload while you throw the nades.

that being said, barret is for one type of situation, and m79 is for another. You must realise that no weapon is better than another.

Yep, sailing a shot way across the screen and nailing a target and ricochet shots are really fun to execute. I also like lobbing one straight up and leading the enemy to follow me so it strikes him dead on the way down.

The M79 has its issues, but it can be played skilled just as any weapon.

Not quite Mr. Domino, I used to spam the M79 and could take on auto users very easily with them. Of course, nowadays I've broadened myself to being able to use all the weps in the game, but back then I was strictly M79 and did pretty damn well with it against anyone, lol.

I never considered the M79 to be a handicap in melee combat, if you're able to duck and dodge well enough then you can survive an auto onslaught long enough to at least get off a second shot.

You're not playing against good auto users then. Any auto user taking on the M79 within its range is stupid. Staying afar, the auto will always have the upper hand. That goes for pretty much every mid to long range weapon -- a M79 user should be dead before it's even in range.

Once you get a lot of practice and get used to the m79 arc youd be surprised at how often you can hit noobs that don't know how to dodge from far away.

The best thing to do is just pretend like the enemy has close range instant kill ability if you don't see him firing a weapon yet closing in on you. That's the sign I use to get into a more ready position, though it is difficult when you're already both racing toward each other before you see the other player.

Barret all the way. I love to camp behind bushes and nets where people cant see me. wait for them to come by and BAME. It's so much for to see unaware victim got shot out of the blue.

Just yesterday I was hideing with the Barret and to people got in a fight and they didn't know I was behind them with the Barret and whil they where fighting I sniped em both with the same bullet. (Can we say pwnage.)

My thoughts for the Barrett are:

-1337 when used well
-For more experienced users.

My personal thoughts for the M79 are:

- Good n00b weapon
- For people that move around alot
- No strategy needed

It's easy to dodge auto shots from long-range too, you just have to be careful while you're doing it (as generally, they're running as they spray... so if you're trying to find spots that the bullets are missing, you have to concentrate at the same time on everything in front of you). Essentially, I've gotten good in Soldat at ducking and running in, so alot of the time I CAN get in range with an auto user because they don't see me in time (I mostly play realistic).

And when I said spam, I actually meant I ONLY used the M79, not that I lobbed nades everywhere from it

Randomly firing M79 shots comes only in crowded maps for me, where I know I'll get some kills. You're right, there's no skill there at all. I was just saying I used to ONLY use the M79, now I use every other weapon too.
