Hi,
I have a soldat dedicated server that runs off of an ad-hoc wlan compromised of 3 laptops on running on XP. The other laptops can connect to my host laptop and play a game of soldat, but they cannot "see" the server in the lobby area when I scan for soldat games on a LAN. This is important because the ad-hoc ip address assignment is totally random.
My comp (the host) is an hp dv8000t with Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG running windows XP Media center 2005, and Norton Internet Security 2006 v9.1.0.33., Windows Firewall disabled. I set NIS 2006 to allow all communications for soldat.
I get a weird error from the server when I start it on my comp:
Could Not Bind File Server Socket: 23083
I installed the regular soldat package 1.3.1. I think the dedicated server is in the same directory as the game, which I heard is bad. Does the default install package of soldat install the server and the game in the same directory? How do I tell if this is so, and how do I fix it then?
I poked around on the web for awhile, but I couldntfind anything for regular lan setup, much less wireless g ad-hoc play.
