Question about multitexturing in Polyworks
« on: September 12, 2006, 10:16:40 am »
Hi, I'm having this problem:

I've assembled a 2-part multitexture to use in Polyworks. But, I still can't figure out how to use the 'texture' window in order to select which part of the multitexture I want to use for a specific set of polys. When I use the command 'fix texture' (ctrl+f) Polyworks applies the full multitexture to the polys I've selected, instead of using only the selection I've made/took in the 'texture' window. How can I use only the section of the m.text. I want?

Fix texture does not work with multiple textures. The texture window is for use with the quad tool: right click with the poly creation tool to select quad, then under the view menu make sure either "User Defined X" or" User Defined Y" or both are checked depending on how you want the texture to be applied to the quad.

Basically if your texture tiles horizontally (individual textures are stacked on top of each other) then you could either set "User defined Y" to take advantage of the horizontal tiling and make quads that have the vertical texture coord defined by the texture window, or set both user defined X and Y to make quads that have both sets of the coordinates defined in the texture window.

Hope that's not too confusing. The best way to learn it is to experiment with the functions to see how they affect the texture.

Thank you very much Anna, that's exactly what I wanted to know.
Polyworks keeps surprising me all the time... the level of detail that it offers regarding texture usage/manipulation is really impressive.

Why not? Just post the problem and Anna will try to fix it. She's always working on PW (well, at least 'til recent times).
