CTF/HTF/INF/DM/TDM/PM/Rambo Jacks_Pac-man Style
« on: September 15, 2006, 04:45:35 pm »
Thats right! Enjoy the classic arcade style of packman while shooting noobs. This map is a true test of agility and short range fighting skills. A map where you can really run circles around someone without them hitting you.

Screen shots....

Works in all game modes. (Good job making up the posting rules -_-' )
Is not way pointed for bots.
All scenery is default. ( I think )

Why are there 2 red flags?

You ever played pacman? There was those 2 entry points. Its more fun to have the flag location to change. There is only 1 flag and you got to pay attention to where its at.

Two flags make the location change? Cool.

This is a great map. I really am jealous I didn't think of it first. This would make such a great theme server -- old arcade games mapped for Soldat. Pac-Man, Dig Dug, Donkey Kong... There's a lot of great map ideas that this concept can generate, and it's small to boot. Still probably better for INF or DM than CTF, but lots of fun just the same.

Two flags make the location change? Cool.

You never knew that? 2+ spawns make the flag act like a "loose" flag; you can't return it, but in a minute or half-minute, it changes position. Not all the time, tho'; sometimes it recognizes that it's at base and stays there for another duration of a loose flag, or more. It's all probability, really, and it's perfectly possible that it ends up never using a different base-spawn; that's why I don't use the function.

Multiple, different base-spawns will lead to a greater probability of the flag assuming a different position.

I only thought that that applied for htf and pointmatch flags.

interesting idea, but i think the dual red flag could be too buggy (i tryed that once before, and i could never cap the flag, it would just return to the other one whenever i try to score).

i think the scenery you put on is a little.....out of place (bushes in a pac man arena??) maybe make your own scenery, like ghosts for the middle, and a few cherries or something.

if you use this map for team match, i think blue could easily be spawn killed, and there are no yellow or green spawns

it would also be greatly unfair for HTF, since blue spawns ontop of the yellow flag

I asked about that and he mentioned that maps require a minimum of three sceneries to use. I suggested that the map just use some plain black or invisible scenery which would be hidden and not look as out of place as those shrubs do. Or, better yet, reproduce the high score, live stock count, and bonus items on the outside of the playfield as scenery to meet the requirement and help out the theme of the map.

http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=&game_id=10816

That, the moving CTF flag (both should be in the warp zones on the sides), and those safe red triangles and ability to go out of bounds to avoid death on the outside of the map are my only complaints. I'd like to see those red triangles turned into death polygons and into a full wraparound border. If he really wanted, he could try to reproduce the bezel for the ends of the map field, too. :)

I really wished I had thought of this first. :) :( :)

Ya, I just put random crap in so I wouldn't get that stupid map version bug. And so far, it seems to help. I wanted to use all default scenery also. I might go back and modify it if I feel like it...

crap.... good point! I would of figured that out if anyone was in the server last night!!!!
I'll move the yellow flags to the corners of the map.

i also dont really like the possiblity of being able to ontop of the map, maybe enclose the whole thing, so you cant leave.

also for the deathmatch version of this one, you could probably copy/paste it a bunch of times, like avarax did on nether, to give it the same effect

Nice map :-) This map remind maze dungeon maps style from cult video game from `80s, and Commodore 64 platform called "Wizard of War". It was revolution video game, and fantastic shooter with singleplayer and split screen multiplayer with dynamic action, many enemy monsters, bonuses (life), radar (bit like minimap in Soldat 1.4). bja888 maybe you should look at maps from Wizard of War (WoW) and remake them on Soldat platform. It could be really nice for people who like oldschool `80s cyberpunk / tron pure graphics style. It could be named as "wow_map_pack" :-)

Video (on Youtube.com):

Remeber that this game is almost 30 year old (it was made in 1980).
