« on: September 16, 2006, 08:06:02 am »
I'm giving away 2 hosting accounts for soldat.

Specs
500 MB (You can ask for more!)
Unlimited Bandwidth (Don't go crazy though)
MySQL/PHP (Ask for a MySQL Database)
FTP Account
Park Domains
Scripts from Fantastico (Ask for the specific script to be installed for you, including forums like SMF and phpBB2 or CMS like PHP Nuke and Joomla and much much more)

Requirements
1. A Soldat Website
2. You REALLY want to create a great soldat website and continue improving
3. It must be professional (Don't get intimated by this)

I will be personally looking at your work.
E-mail me @ kuanjiaqing@hotmail.com or post here.
Also remember I can cut you off anytime without warning.

Always wanted to upload a soldat file which is close to 1GB?
Impossible? I think not. Our uploader takes every soldat extension file, image files and zip/rar files!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Post here for any questions about the hosting.

Can you post some specs of where the server is hosted, the isp and speed of upload/download rate, version of *nix or m$ running on it, and who owns these servers.

I'll be glad to.

Our servers are hosted by Dommox, the main host is http://www.rhserve.com/.

Operating system : Linux
Kernel version: 2.6.9-34.ELsmp
Machine Type: i686
Apache version: 1.3.37 (Unix)
PERL version: 5.8.7
PHP version: 4.4.4
MySQL version:    4.1.21-standard

I'm not too sure about the download rate though. I'll check it out.

Those are the latest versions of PHP's and Apache's stable/legacy versions...  Just because the server isn't running php5 and apache2 doesn't mean that they're old versions

Just because PHP4 is a stable release doesn't negate the fact that it's old. Windows 2000 is a "stable" release that is still supported and updated. Would you not consider that old?

I think what he meant was that the latest version of PHP isn't old. So in other words he said that they aren't outdated, as EnEsCe implied in his post. And he's absolutely right, they aren't.

A lot of third party software relies on older versions of software like Apache 1.3.x. A perfect example is webbased control panels that hosting providers often provide to their users for improved flexibility and accessibility. I know that many (probably most) of those control panels already have a pretty stable support for Apache 2.x, but last I checked at least cPanel and DirectAdmin still ship with Apache 1.3 by default.
