Our lonely little pixelated drones, the bots.
« on: June 13, 2006, 06:55:00 pm »
For too long the bots have gone untouched, they're remarkably limited and easy to outsmart.  The only real way to get killed by them is to full-on fire fight them, and that's just too easy to avoid. Please, let's get some support behind this, for the people with 56k, or who just like to play the bots.
EDIT: LIST!
-Jump before jetting
-Throw knife
-Run if injured
-Switch weapons when out of ammo in a fight
-Drop secondary weapons for other primaries
-Not be stupid with the LAW (:P)
-Throw nades whilst firing

More to come, keep talkin' fellas

I agree, bots, although hard maybe, need a serious overhaul.
As of now they are pure ignorant and jackasstic.

I'm also in favor of this.

Playing bots offers no real challenge - I use them for target practice.

I wish they could backflip (naturally, without any waypoint [bugs] involved)

I am very much in favour of this, as this would make a good tactical challenge for me (and others), and it would make it harder for me to mow five bots down with one Mp5 clip...to fukin easy! Make 'em smarter!!!

they are stoopid lol, but they got this thing, were they shoot at you once you are in there line of fire, even if that line is out of their vision. I always thought that was wierd.....
Your acting like your having a duel and your opponent gets a pistol and you get a spork.
Isn't that pretty much what it is? I dunno wtf a spork is, I suppose it's way weaker than the pistol since you compared that to this.

when I say, make them smarter, I don't mean make them fly or wateva, I mean..Let them be able to switch weapons-or drop weapons for better ones. This would be harder to code though...and they need to be more tactical in realistic mode as well...

So true! The bots have been ignored for so long, they could really use some improvement.
I don't know a shit about programming so I'm not sure if it's possible. But I would it if they became smarter in the context of selfdefense. When you shoot at bots, they just keep on walking towards you without trying to stay alive. I would like it if that would be improved, maybe by using the dodgemove.

it would be great if they couldn't see you when you're in the bushes or behind barrels  but that would be too easy then

Thats what i was saying....even if you are completely out of sight, they still shoot at you.  i think that knife throwing bots would be pretty sweet to see. i magine like a team of 5 chuckin knives everywhere

bots that stay on the ground when they go to shoot the law, they crouch but if you are above them insead of staying on the ground they jet.

also a jump before they jet so boogieman can actually saw better and such.

You fools! You know how much work a good AI system is? This game is made by one guy, give him some slack! The bots are amazing for a one man product!

As for people with slow connection, sorry. Bots are never that great in shooters, they're just practice for online play.

Besides, of course bots should always be smarter and smarter. It's a given. It's almost like saying, "I have a really good idea. Soldat should be a better game!" Well, maybe that's not the best example, but you get the idea.
