Falling Guns
« on: September 23, 2006, 07:22:22 pm »
A friend suggested this.  When guns fall (she noticed how they can bounce) what if they fired off a shot when they hit the ground; meaning whatever direction the barrel happens to be facing, it shoots off a shot.  If it bounced more than once, then it would fire that many times.  Guns only bounce 3 - 4 times max and maybe there could be a way so it determines a long drop from getting stuck in the polys and violently shaking and shooting.  It doesn't mean this has to be every weapon, like m79; that would be a bit too deadly with it.  Maybe just autos and Rugers.  What do you think?

I dont like it.

1. who would get the kill? "Killed by Ruger77"  :P
2. wouldn't this be hard to code in for Soldat?
3. It would probably generate lag.
4. guns don't "normally" discharge when they are dropped.

I've no idea how hard it might be to implement this.  It doesn't seem like all that big of a thing as to cause lag, too, but I don't know.  I guess whoever owned the weapon gets the kill; suicide if it kills themselves.  Just to be clear, this would mean that it would fire a single shot; not in full auto if it were that type.

True about lag. The coding may be hard if you think about it. I think it's still kind of a bad idea because the bullet shot out would rarely hit anyone, so to me I think it'd be a waste of time. No offence

Yea', it's fine.  I wanted to see what people thought about it or if it can even be done easily.

I like the idea in general maybe count it as a self-kill by that weapon? Be really funny in r/s when you pwn someone while standing in a spot and they drop their ruger and it kills you in the face XD!

do u know how annoying it would be fighting someone till u had low life, then get killed by a dropped gun? i dont like this
Your acting like your having a duel and your opponent gets a pistol and you get a spork.
Isn't that pretty much what it is? I dunno wtf a spork is, I suppose it's way weaker than the pistol since you compared that to this.

You took the words right out of my mouth. Horrible idea, for that very reason.

What about the weapons that get stuck in the polys?  Would they keep shooting bullets at the direction it's facing, as well?

a nice idea, but i don't really like it; the guns doesn't normally fire a bullet when it fall, the thing under the fire-button at the gun will disable it...

seriously, if you dropped a gun while flying it would just hit the ground, not act like boucny ball

No i don't like it...  Soldat isn't based so much on luck/bad luck.  It'd just be stupid to get killed by a random bullet flying.  This is just ridiculous.
Can't think of anything original to put here...

Everytime a gun hits the ground it fires a bullet? lol? Do guns fire a bullet in real life when they hit the ground? Diden't think so
