Hash to prevent Cheat
« on: September 24, 2006, 12:23:06 pm »
I think that the maps and scenery should have a hash code, then when you open the map it should check the hash with the servers map, if playing offline you would simply check the hash of your own map, so it would always work. This would help to prevent some people who have wrong map version to be kicked and rejoin sooner, and it would prevent people from turning scenery into lime green transparant. Discuss.

Good idea, but seriously, campers aren't really a big problem.  :-\

This seems like a good idea to me. It'd be helpfull, and it's not harming anyone/anything. However, my soldat intuition tells me there's a catch - what is it?

Anyway, if there isn't one, I'm all for it.

Dont maps already have a hash? Hows else does the downloading map work? How does it detect map versions? ... i mean you can't join a server running ctf_b2b by renaming ctf_kampf to ctf_b2b if you didnt have ctf_b2b ... lol

I don't thnk it's that big of a problem at all.

If you're sitting in a bush for that long that someone using a scenery-pseudohack finally can kill you after you've been taking so many sniper-potshots, you deserve it. This really isn't worth the time to implement, IMO.

It's kinda like night-vision in real life; h4x! :P

You're at fault as well for not noticing 'em in the first place.  Shouldn't really need to edit scenery.

This is a good idea.. but only if you can turn it on/off.
For public servers its good to let it off, but for a clan match you could turn it on to make sure everybody will be playing with the default stuff.

Some people make the objects invisible so they can see campers.
