Agreed, if it had been real pixel art then they may have been a tad cooler.

The soldatens' proportions are messed up, and the drawings aren't too great :-/.

In regard to the topic, takes screenshots of soldatens, then study their proportions in paint. When you try drawing them, mix up a very nice palette. Make sure to use dithering if you decide to use very few colors.
