animated maps
« on: September 28, 2006, 05:35:44 pm »
they should make animated maps, eg. the player stands on a elevator and it moves up and down or stands on a train or a car and it automaticly moves

lots of extra coding and crap for comp to member and to program. instead of 1001101010111011101 it would start to be 4875250932765

acutally, it would still be 1's and 0's, just that there'd be more of them and in varying arrangments

No changes will ever be made to the map editor as it is. And guess what you need to be able to put a feature on a map?... ;)

whata...i where thinked about moving lifts some months ago :P
i can admit this wouldn't be too easy to programme...remember that you would still be able to use a program like Polyworks or Mapmaker to add a moving object in the map, and yes, it can causes lag in the game.

NO. Never.

Just use bouncy/teleport polys if you want an elevator.

Yeah, this has been discussed many times over. The main problems are lag, tied for second are dificulty in programming and general disputes.

'WTF y am i go up ?!?!?'

I'd have to say that making maps any more dynamic than they are already is condeming players to excessive lag.

The preferred outcome of war is peace. Ironic, huh ?

And with some people already with 250-300 ping, this could possibly put some people over the edge and not let them play.

Hmm, any idea what to write here?

I have lifts in my map. theyre quite bumpy and extremely unsafe on realistic mode tho. (bouncy poly in a long vertical shaft.)

There's one coder, and he has a life and is working on a different game ATM.
