I was just playing this map in my U13 Big CTF server, and I think this is my new favorite map.  The fact that there are so many routes makes it require at least 16 players, we were on it with 24.

A couple things I noticed that were annoying, but not in a particularly bad way:
  • Flag carriers can hide in the entryways
  • it is very easy for the flag to get blown off the flagstand into the slime
  • the map is a lot bigger than the overview made me think it was.  A couple in-game screenies would be very helpful for this thread

I played in the giant server, and it's a nice map but for 1 thing. People can very easily hide in the doorway things. Intentional, I know. But some guys got ahold of a flag, and just hid there the entire round. Killed the fun a bit, until it all got back on track.

yeah, but it is quite satisfying to go into the doorway and kill him with your hands ;)

Looks very nice, would play very well with many players. The only bugger is I cannot download the Scenery Pack needed to play this level. By any chance has anyone got that pack on them? Seems the server may have been downwhen i tried to download it, but its fixed now. Thanks for offering though, Moirae.

Good map man, looks like promising gameplay. Only thing that sorta bothered me was the excess of lights but it's still good. Reminds me of Chernobyl like someone said. I miss Chernobyl, why did they take it off the default again?

Niceness! The effects are great, especially the lighting and shadows...

The only things that annoy me about this map?

-The flag easily falls into the green goo.
-Those collider doors are kind of annoying (and a tad large)
-The box scenery should be mid-level (soldats go behind it) and there should be colliders with it.

Otherwise a good n' large map.

er, one major issue with this map that I realized while playing in it yesterday.

Is the texture/edge valken.bmp used in any other maps?  this map uses the texture, but not the edge.  If any other players have previously played on a map using the edge valken.bmp, then they will have it in their folder and it'll be used on this map, making it 100% unplayable for them.

Can you re-release this map with a new (and unique) name for this texture so that this problem doesn't occur?

I have some suggestions:

1. I really like the shading, but I think you used way more polys than is necessary (almost 4000 :o). If you have the time, you could try to cut down the poly count a bit (the 'create with selected' function in PW would help). For the yellow/black stripes, a custom scenery might be a good idea.

2. Maybe tone down the lights a bit, I think it would look better if the light effects were more subtle.

Also you can try using two lights instead of one for a more shiny effect:

It's a great map though, good job :)

[edit] I can get it down to about 3000 polys. Any less would require me to make visual changes. [/edit]
