Or because our brains have no religious aspect associated with them and anyone that hasnt heard of religion would have no catholic belief therefor in your view, would almost always have the right and wrong aspect mixd up because noone has told them otherwise therefor in there mind they are being a great person but in gods view would send them to hell. Personally if i was this god you speak of I would not have a set rules for everyone withought making it perfectly clear to everyone what is right and wrong. Also going to hell is eternal but it is because you turned away from god, therefor in hell we would be able to change am I correct? If we were not able to than we would not have free will which would just contradict all of your statements. In heaven there is no wanting to do anything wrong so there would be no sin, and I can understand that part, but wouldnt living in fire and pain maybe allow you to rethink things you did? All respect-jett

Just because someone tells you something is wrong it doesn't mean you believe it is. Christians believe God gave us free will to decide things for ourselves. So basically we believe God did say what is right and wrong but gave us the option to change our views on right and wrong if we wanted.

So god tells you what's right and wrong, good and evil, and you're allowed to say, "Nope, I've just decided that indiscriminately killing people is fine, therefore I shouldn't go to hell for it."

That certainly is an entirely new way to look at the Bible.  I think I like it much more now that I can decide what is true in it and what isn't.  I'll start with that funny Jesus walking on water story...

I think this time you've misunderstood. He means to say that with free will, humans can view good and evil differently. Though, Christians believe what the bible says is the truth. Therefore, respective to each human, good and evil are subjective, but relative to christianity it is not.

Ah, thank you.  Just to make sure I'm on the right page: the Bible is the only real truth concerning good and evil, but people may be mistaken or confused about what that truth is, yes?

Yes, in a sense. From a christian view that is, but to put it into another perspective it is to say that christians see the bible as good and evil but understand that their are other perspectives.

@PopeJohnPaul_II: The term "Satanist" is not as strict as you may think. Some Satanists use the tag to show their self-glorification and don't even believe in Satan whatsoever.
That IS what about 98% of Satanists are. The only people that believe in 'satan' and consider themselves 'satanists' are devil worshippers and don't exactly adhere to the basic ideas of satanism. That being surrounding the left hand path which is the opposite of deity worship.
There. See, PopeJohnPaul_II? :P Talk to 'Dan, then; I'm sure he knows his stuff much more than I do about Satanism, anyways.

I think you'll find it hard to come across an issue that Christians could not pin a Biblical saying on.

Albeit, just because the Bible has the potential to cover every subject, does not mean it was meant to, nor that Christians will interpret the same meanings. Remember that the Bible was used to justify evil things. Undoubtedly, this is the core of our debate.

MilkmanDan was agreeing with me. Keron, I don't see how you can argue against what I say of Satanism when you still have yet two overcome two obstacles. Firstly, you know very little of the Satanic religion. Secondly, Christianity is by far the most chaotic, disjointed religion of them all. Until you can prove otherwise, there's no point to these strange antics of yours.

Like what?

Sending monkeys into space?  Gay marriage?  Japanese guys pilfering panties from the laundromat?

Back on topic though: Keron, why do you think the word I was looking for was holy?  One doesn't need to be holy to be good.  Even if being holy means being good (and I could think of a few instances where being holy was anything but being good), does it necessarily work the other way around?

If I were to go around helping sick children, feeding the homeless, and giving backrubs to people with chronic lower back pain, etc. etc., without any inkling of religious or holy intent, why would it need to be a holy thing?  I understand full well that the Bible puts forth a rigorous standard of right and wrong, good and bad.  But I also believe that some common curtousy and compassion for our fellow man go a long way regardless of religion or belief, and that seems to be a common thread.  Just being good for the sake of "good" has nothing to do with religion or things holy.  As I said before..holy things may be good, but good things don't need to be holy.

We still do that?  Anyway well the Bible does say homosexuality is wrong... so why would it have a different stand on gay marrage? Actual Geo that's stealing... that falls into 10 commandments territory :D

It would be nice if you could still answer what you do in cases where the Bible doesn't specify what's right and what's wrong.  I would assume you'd just go with whatever the common consensus is, but what if there isn't one?  Humans are fallible, after all.

But before you answer that, I'd like to point out that you have no reason to believe that gay marriage is wrong just because the Bible says sodomy is wrong.  It may seem logical, but there are so many illogical things in the Bible that you can't really depend on logic to guide you.

Ever heard of a joke..?  Anyone?  Of course we don't send monkeys into space anymore, but we used to.

Anyhoo, where does it say specifically that homosexuality is wrong?  And uh..what about the rest of my point?

Got the scripture Levitius 18:22
You shalt not lie with a man as a woman(puttting a man in a womans place... woman in a mans place). It is an abomination.
Also geo those are good deeds, even with religious they are good deeds.  With religion they just are good deeds in the name of a higher being.

yeah so, basically, what religion are you?

Non-denominational Christian.  I follow the Bible and leave religion out of it.

i'm LDS aka Mormon (don't be hatin')
( btw, Mormons are christians)

Eh...if Mormons are Christians, then I don't think I should call myself a Christian.  Mormans accept polygamy, believe that the earth is millions of years old (which isn't Biblical), believe that they are saved based on their good works, ....the list goes on and on.  Here's a decent site explaining some of the differences between Mormans and Christians: http://www.integrity.com/homes/exmormon/def.htm
