Wrong port.
« on: October 14, 2006, 09:29:48 am »
Keep in mind this server is non-dedicated.

When I create my server, I have already set up a static IP, and forwarded the ports.

However, when I create it, my ping is always 0. I opened another soldat at the same time, and searched for my server. The ping was ???. Also, the port wasn't default, it was 3368. To fix this problem, I went to the setup, but strangly enough, the port was already set to the default port. Then I noticed the map was the same name was the server name.

Help please.

I'd recommend using the dedicated server, even if you aren't going to be running one. It is much more stable. BTW, it's normal to have a ping of 0; that's your ping to yourself which is always going to be low. Your router may be doing some external port randomization, you may have to change some settings specific to your router to disable that deature.

Port randomization = Network Address Translation. Check your modem settings.

Thanks. Is there a quick way to get to your routers control settings?

http://www.portforward.com/ Find your router, or at least one close to it since the instructions tend to be similar.
