Report Hacking

You guys may not know where this hacking thing has reached, but I'm going to explain: one of these days I started a pointmatch singleplayer game, alone with no bots, and appeared a guy that was named "187". Do you understand ? It was not online, it was singleplayer.
I think we really, really gotta stop this hacking thing, like making an application for that. And I noticed that when you start the game without being registered, it appears that box asking you, if you wanna buy soldat, but it has too, a message saying: "anti-hack protection", but how can I believe it ?

EDIT: sry, I know that this have to be in the "report bugs" section, I was just to frustrated that I posted somewhere else.

Well, are you sure that your server simply wasn't registered in the lobby as it will be by default? And did he even use any hacking tools?

I just remenber that one time I went to the "SoldatServer" folder, I double-cliked the exe. file and I think it's because of that. What can I do know ? Will I have to install a new soldat ?

You have to go to options and unselect register to lobby server but people can still join if they know your ip

PunkBuster is HORRIBLE. Don't ever speak of it, ever.

PunkBuster is pretty much the best FPS anti-cheat system out there. It is intuitive as it has more tendency to catch new cheats than VAC (which just looks for specific known hacks) or any of the others.

No no no. I think I speak for many more people than myself when I say I don't want someone I don't even know having admin on my server.

No need to reinstall! First off, I don't really understand your problem, still.

So you put up a Soldat server using the dedicated server software, and then joined it. If the server had Register in Lobby ticked your server will be registered in the Soldat lobby and other players will be able to join your game.

Or have I just gotten this whole thing wrong?

If you properly set your game up as singleplayer (uncheck register in lobby) no one can join without knowing your IP address and that you have a game running. I don't see how this is related to hacking.
On another note(an offtopic one), Vac2 works pretty well, imo. It leads hackers into a false sense of security and then a few weeks later-- BLAM, banned from all secure servers. It also works as a deterrent because you can lose access to your steam games by cheating, so most don't even try. I didn't used to like PunkBuster but actually I think it's much better now than it used to be.

Yeah, I think the reason VAC's punishments are so harsh is because they own the games that they run on, which isn't the case with Punkbuster.

And why are you quoting his post about Global Admins? Don't tell me you support having people you don't even know and have never met having admin on your server. If you run a server chances are that even people you hire YOURSELF will abuse, why would you trust people that someone else hired?

Man, I don't understand what you're saying, where do I have to "unselect" register to lobby server, is it in the "soldat" ini. file inside the "SoldatServer" folder ?
In that file in the [NETWORK] section there is a line saying "Lobby_Register=1", so do I just have to set it to 0 ?

Or you could just do it the normal way and run the game and uncheck it in the options section.

Andro!d, you don't need the Dedicated Server if you wanna play alone.
Just start Soldat and in the first screen you select the gamemode, scorelimit, timelimit, maps, bots and stuff and hit the big green START GAME button. That's enough.

And to prevent people from joining you server you can open the Options tab and set your connection as LAN (instead of Internet). Or you can leave it set as Internet but UNCHECK the Register In Lobby Server box, or just put a password there in the password field.
