I really dont think its possible to make a one hit kill weapon fair to all the other guns, unless they have a drastic startup time, which would be stupid.

I notice you aren't complaining about the law.

It's always possible to fake your movements so that they shoot too early. While they're reloading, run at them. It's possible to jump a little, jet as though you're going all the way up then suddenly fall back down again. Keep repeating, eventually they'll either fire and (hopefully) miss or you'll be able to get several shots on them first.

...or you just shoot them with the Barrett... That's easier.

@ArmedManiac - I say don't get into a hallway with a know barret/m79er and your fiine.

Most map's it is rarely possible to take a route that isnt a hallway or an island to get around.

And whats wrong with a good gamble once in awhile(or not-so while)

there's absolutely nothing wrong with going for a gamble once in a while, but when it gets excessive (where everyone in the server is using barrets/m79s) it becomes annoying.

Frustration is fine, but get used to them, they ain't leaving.

I can agree with that in away. Getting a little ticked isnt that bad, but when it actually is aggrevating enough to make you want to smash the keyboard (as my friend jeff puts it) It's a little much.

I can definitely doubt that they won't all leave. I don't really need them to. However drawing it down a little more is something worth 'trying' for.

@ElephantEater - I notice you aren't complaining about the law.

I have seen complaints about the m72 law, but it doesnt bother me because of its painfully long reload time and because it has to be on the ground to use it.

There's rarely ever enough time to use the m72 law more than once. And because you have to see the guy drop down onto the ground in order to use it, makes it pretty predictable.

It's always possible to fake your movements so that they shoot too early.

I tried that too, it worked very few of the times, but currently its nearly impossible to shift into another direction fast enough to actually fake them out. It still worked very few of the times, but you can't fake someone out when they come over to your side of the island...  :P

@Avis - ...or you just shoot them with the Barrett... That's easier.

I suppose using a barret is a possible solution. But I find the barret and m79 the most boring way to play soldat. Do you suggest that unless I start using barret and m79, I should just quit soldat all together?

Thats why good soldaters tend to stay on the ground. you'll be surprised at what a backflip can do to someone.

Best thing you can do to dodge a M79 grenade is the backflip ;)

No, thats actually about the wost way to dodge an m79, because they all expect it. I rarely get killed by an m79 nowa days, and my trick is to run right up to thier face, hit prone, jets, then prone again really fast, that way you do a head first dive ( like a baseball player) and you end up going right under the shot.
The trick is to look like your going to move in a predictable pattern, but move unexpectedly in an unexpected way/direction, it takes time to develop that skill, but when you do, you will love m79ers and barretards for free easy kills.

Thats the way to dodge an upcoming barret camper, not a m79, as Gortaak has stated.

In response to the original statement of this thread..  I think that you've pointed out an issue with one hit kill weapons that Halo 2 and Call of Duty 2 have a brilliant solution for... auto-regenerating health, that starts after a firefight ends.  I don't think that it would ruin soldat at all.
Without originality society is doomed.

golden eye rouge agent also does that. and yes, it would. Realistic survival...that means it would be a server option, which hackers can take advantage of to always be healing.

u can kick hackers, u can't kick weapons that aren't well-balanced.  well u can, but it often hurts the game some.

You can't kick hackers, they will always make anti kicks, you have to ban them, which requires an admin.

CoD2 has auto-regenerating health? =S

This idea would make soldat very slow indeed. Everytime someone gets damaged a little they immediately start hiding. Although this would make good strategies important, I don't think strategic thinking is the main purpose of soldat.

Yes, too much hiding would definitely be bad...

no, at elast twice a day I'll go into a server and as soon as I spawn 5 m79s' hit me.

and again,

and again,

and again,

and again,

then I leave.

you can't dodge because there's like 10 grenades coming at once.

that's why I like small servers with few people.

this is not the why just one of them is not fair but it is that both but still learn that you suck it up and learn to fight back not whine that they killed you and you dont likeĀ it that they are better than you btw i hardly use either i like to use the minigun

I say barreters and m79ers get them to stop whining by just not using the barret and m79 so much, rather than relying on whiners to stop whining on their own.

It's a fool-proof solution, and isn't that hard.

Think of it this way.

Compared to you, it's the other way around for me.

M79ers usually do tend to be slow. If they're too fast, they really can't get off a REALLY good shot unless you're in perfect position for an easy shot for them. But, if they have to do this and that, so to speak, they'll have to lay up shots that they hope you fall into, and that are either too far from you or an overshoot. I played in the Elite Server of Explosives today. I got hurt more by m72 law shots at least two screens more than m79s. So, anyways, I prefer playing people who only have one shot at me while I have several, cause since I have accuracy, mine accumulate quickly.

Barreters are more vunerable when they're camping, cause then you find them, nade them, and that's it. Other than that, they have to charge up, and if you're not in a favorable position for them, you get first shot.

Projectilers can shoot at any time without warning. Warnings don't mean much if you can't get away. That's the problem.

If those were 5 people with AK's or Deagles you'd die the same. Seems like you are just an easy target.

The M79 and Barret are overpowered IMO. I especially dont like extreme short range shots from either weapon. Barret campers can be frustrating too, but I aint really complaining about that. My problem is people who rack up M79 shots from 5 meters away with almost no effort.

I am really good with DE but all the barret and M79 guys make it a LOT unfair. It's not whining, it's stating the fact. Plus, if you really are gonna use those stupid weapons, as I am entitled to my opinion, you are entitled to shove them up your asshole.

Play fair, dear M79 noobs, welcome to the real world, try new weapons instead of sucky M79 and gay barrets, look, there is something similar to the barret to start off, go to the wheepin'z menu and pick the Ruger 77.

Now go kick some ass in the fair stylish way. Jackasses.

I am Zero. I am uber.

Zero Ziat has managed to **** up within days of joining the fourms. Congratulations. I can easily say that the Desert Eagles are unfair with their double-bullet, high power and semi-automatic firing rate, plus a decent reload time, but I don't because I know they're balanced. Every weapon has a strength and a weakness. The Eagles are sub-medium range and lose a lot of power over range. The M79 can't shoot far and deals fatal splash damage to the user. The Barret suffers massive bink and movement acc. penalties. It's not the gun. It's you. If you can't handle the game, don't play it. You're saying we should change a gun because you can't beat somebody who can use it. Tough. Learn to beat them and stop complaining.
