(I don't really think this should go under Tournements/Clans. I know its more specific than general but this like a good fit

).

As some of you may know the SCTFL 9 (Soldat Capture the Flag League) Playoffs have started and I thought it might be fun to see who you guys think will win. I'll post some stats on each of the clans and what not, for those of you not as familiar with all the clans.

AE vs. RB - AlterEgo will pass, these guys have always been near the top, this season they might even win the cup

CF vs. MG - FinSpray vs. PoleSpray, goes the stereotype. CrossFire has been doing very good, so it's pretty evident they will beat MG.

SM vs. enclave - SexMachines, being the best american clan at the moment has better chances than enclave, but the poles have shown that they can surprise anyone ( they beat AE during the regular season ).

SK vs. Aesir - Aesir has some really tough players, though they just lost alexoner. Still, the portugese Serial Killers will have a hard time overcoming this team. I hope SK passes

R7 vs. Ox - R7 has some reputable players with great skill, but Ox has been roaring through the Soldat world with Tyler and Kaimelar in their team ( they have the least losses out of the teams in the playoffs ). Oxid will win.

Ap vs. SN - Soldier's Nightmare should win by paper, but if Ap pulls the same which they did before, they can pass. Bet's on SN though.

AA vs. EL - AA. No question here, Ad Absurdum has the best european players, they outweight EL, plus if they spray, it's curtains for the americans.

And btw, nice topic, too bad most people have no idea who these clans are >_>

Ap vs. SN - I'm hoping for SN.

AA vs. EL - I'm pretty confident we win allthough we lost during the season(10-0 for us on the only map that was on our server? ;>) We just played a game on their server yesterday, a fcw and we lost 2-1 in maps... but it was pretty tight.

yeah I was hoping to get more newer people interested in the leagues, but it doesn't look like many are interested

Honestly, are you surprised? The community is so awesome when it comes to news spreading that often people think that the clan they are in is the best, just because they have players who are better than themselfes. And it's nearly impossible to make it clear that these are the best clans in soldat currently.

Nobody is saying anything because they don't know the clan scene and basically can't say anything apart from total speculation. Which is better than a thread full of noobs writing who's gonna win when they have no idea ;P

Where do you find out more about these clans? i know about ones like ~/SM\~, R7, AE/, ~~[K], and -el- but most of those i dont really know much about them~~

Bump.

Just to keep this up to date, first stage of the playoffs ended, and the new matches are...

AE/ vs. CF| -> my bet is AE. Out of the two finn-only clans, AE is more finnish and will get through.
~/SM\~ vs. Aesir -> tightest match yet. I believe the powerhouse SM will overcome Aesir, the latter clan lost Alexoner and may be weakened because of that.
{EF} vs. The Ruthless -> EF. Always been at the top, the yankies have no real chance here sadly.
Ap/ vs. AA -> Even though Ap beat SN, AA is not their weight class. AA shall proceed!

Thats the great thing about soldat you can never really say that. Sure, i've seen and know some players from these clans and know that they are great. But, the amount of "best" players and clans that aren't in the light because they don't know of the communities, stick to fcw or local leagues: just plain don't know soldat has "serious" gaming; is pretty big...

Well, I don't wanna appear cocky or as if I was bragging, but I can propose you a deal, get any clan to BEAT the SCTFL winner (which wasn't in the sctfl playoffs nor sctfl regular season). And then I might change my point of view.

There are alot of nice people here, who would be more than welcome to the scene IMO.
I mean, last 2.5 years i have been in the scene, there are still 60% of those oldies playing. We need new flesh!

Stop saying crap. Those *are* the best clans at the moment. Take oucheks offer if you dare O.o

And clawbug, I have nothing against people joining the community, but they aren't really interested it seems :>

They need motivation and a guide. I mean, most non-IRC clans can't even imagine the benefits of using it, while you and me know very well how many clan wars / gathers are played daily and how much of a difference it makes in your soldat skill if you play organised games instead of publics.

Also, I agree with Clawbug that we need some real fresh-meat, because there's a very little number of freelancing good players, the Clan scene is rock-solid, and over half of the clans are.. not very fun to play against. Plus, I've been noticing an increase in "nation-strict" clans and how they seem to be dominating the scene ( CF, SK, AE, MG... ).

No, you are very wrong about this. There are great players outside the clan community, that's true, but there aren't great clans outside the clan community. Do you know why? I'll tell you. They lack the activity you can only find on IRC. No matter how good your players are, they won't beat a clan which has played over 500 clan wars in less than a year. And most of the top clans play even more than that. Experience and teamplay is everything. And I doubt that there's a single player outside the clan community who's equal to the best players in the top clans, mostly because you'll get better by playing against equal or better opponents. You just don't find enough top-level challenge outside the clan community.

Now, if you think there's a clan who is not in SCTFL/TNL and is able to beat the top clans there, we'll be willing to play a clan war and see how it turns out. Like Ouchek said, I don't want to appear as being cocky (although I'm sure it sounds like that), but it's just how the things are.

Ill just predict the winner, and thats AE/ as far as best NA id like to say r7 for one reason or another is the best current one but I see SM has improved greatly so ill go with SM, but yeah AE/ wins!

i think EF will win if sneaky starts playing his best, hes unstopabble, and ef is full of all round good experienced players so i think ef will go all the way and become the sctfl champion i think they deserve it

Well, might as well bump this topic if anyone cares about this. Would be pointless to have a topic and not update it.

So here are the matches so far:

Quarterfinals
AE/ vs. CF| -> AE/ won
~/SM\~ vs. Aesir // -> Aesir // won
{EF} vs. The Ruthless -> {EF} won
Ap/ vs. AA| -> AA| won

Semi-finals
AE/ vs. Aesir // -> AE/ won
{EF} vs AA| -> AA| won

So the final will be AE/ vs. AA| and it'll be played within a week.
