from http://forums.soldat.pl/index.php?topic=13.0 :

Error initializing 3D hardware

It's a hardware compatibility error:

    * Make sure you have the latest DirectX drivers.
    * Try running the game in window-mode.
    * Change the Windows desktop colors from 32-bit to 16-bit.
    * Try changing some Soldat Config settings (turn off Antialiasing, check 16-bit).
    * Install the latest or different video drivers.
    * Try changing the windows desktop resolution and bit-rate.
    * Try turning down or up the graphics hardware acceleration (My Computer/Properties/Performance/Graphics).
    * Try updating your motherboard drivers.
    * If you have Windows NT/2000 install the latest service pack.

Usually restarting the computer works for me.

Also, you can try hitting Ctrl + Alt + Delete.  Look through your process list and end anything called "Soldat.exe."  Sometimes if Soldat doesn't exit correctly, it keeps on running in the background and seems to cause this error.

I second that. I think its something to do with your graphics card? I don't know.
