I get that a bunch, probably because I'm using FasterFox.  I don't really care that it shows up, but it would be nice if it didn't completely erase my post without allowing me to use the back button to find it all again.

It's happened to me a few times, this being one of them. And I don't use FasterFox.

Happens to me alot.  I find it happens typically if I am quoting someone.  Perhaps it has something to do with that? And I'm using Opera.

Yes, this is because you're using fasterfox.

I'm not sure why opera also does it, I'm guessing opera may do a small amount of prefetching and optimization that breaks the RFC for HTTP (like fasterfox's advanced settings do)

If this bothers you (this goes for all of you, not just vijcht), disable fasterfox's advanced settings, especially the "Advanced Prefetching" feature.

If Opera has some optimization settings for faster browsing, try disabling some of them, starting with any that alter how your browser interacts with the webservers.

I'm not saying that it is always due to fasterfox or opera, it could also be caused by other things including weird use of the forward/back/refresh buttons.

The vast majority of the time it seems to be caused by fasterfox or opera.

But could you arrange it so that, when it does happen, it doesn't delete everything we've already typed?

hitting the back button should still keep everything in the box in every browser I've used except IE

Hey that's another thing I've been meaning to ask.  I used to be able to click the back button on the forums and the page would click back to where it was before, but now the page refreshes whenever I hit the back button or the backspace.  Why is that?

I've noticed this too... this actually started acting like this with a recent version of firefox.  It started doing it as soon as I upgraded to either 1.5.0.7 or 1.5.0.6.

It is something with firefox, not with the forums.  I'm really glad you mentioned that, I've been meaning to find out if someone else has been having the same problem.  If I find some time, I'm going to go through the firefox bugtracker and see if it has been reported.  If not, I'll submit a bug and post the link to it somewhere for people to contribute info to.

The back button is always disabled because that little thing tends to reload the page instead of loading a new one.

I use opera, and I've only had that error two or three times. Although it's a bit irritating, it's really doesn't seem like it should become a major issue. The backspace button reloading sounds like the real bugger though.

As of now I used IE6 on this crappy school computer and had the same error. Also tapping backspace reloaded the page. Very annoying. And I only clicked Post once.
