Water scenery help
« on: November 02, 2006, 10:34:37 pm »
I seem to always come across the want to add water to my maps but I never want to put it in because I want to make my own water rather then using someone elses but I can't add in my own. Mine are HORRIBLE. They just seem to come out as blue... lifeless water. If anyone could help by giving me some pointers or examples I would really appreciate that.

Try messing around with the tranparency of your water (if you're using polyworks).  I usually go for a white/gray scenery, and then add color to it, as opposed to using a blue scenery from the get go.  This can help make the water darker towards the bottom, and a bit lighter and more transparent towards the top.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams it is
still a beautiful world.  Strive to be happy.

What scenery are you using? blank.BMP is the old-skool, bland yet somewhat aesthetically nice style. There are a few random sceneries specifically catered towards realistic water floating about here, tho'. Somewhere.

I used blank.bmp's and fx_li_beam sceneries to make my water.

O I never thought of that Geologist. Thanks for the pointer. I just realized that starting out with blue would mess up the color if I wanted to use a brighter or darker blue using the Polyworks Palette. I'll try that and I'm almost certain that that will work now. Thankyou.
