I really hope MM doesnt make a "Trial Version", that would be horrible.

I think he made a smart move by stating he will raise the prices, people would rather hurry up and buy it now, so they dont have to play later, wich leads to him getting some extra bucks before the price change.

I was wondering (I havent read the license agreement) if i could put soldat into a CD (registered) with soldat map maker, and other stuff. then sell it for say $20- $25. then i keep $5 and he could get rest, wich would lead to the amount wanted (or more).
It will prolly go out of control if MM allowed that.

Definatly would.

Plus there would just be heaps of pirated copys if you got rego on a cd.
Plus again to reg you need a rego key, not a CD.

Lol this whole thing could just be an elaborate plan to get people to register quicker. At the end of a couple weeks or when he's collected enough money he'll just 'change his mind' about the increase in price. xD

EDIT: This is a joke! Don't take it seriously, for god's sake.

Thats not true.

How much do you normally pay for a commercial game???
And how many hours of work go in to that game??

You see my point?

well, im glad i sent in my 9$ right before i found this thread.

I think that an extended trial period would be good for soldat.  c'mon, if someone has been playing everyday for a year, don't you think its around time to pay or leave?  i do.

I love Soldat.

I have only one complaint about the game, and that is the fact that it is free.  This results in an awful lot of little kids playing that don't respect the game or the serious players in it.

To be honest, I would be a happier Soldat player if the game cost $20.  But don't get me wrong...  I really enjoy killing N00bs!  I just don't like having to listen to them bitch and bitch and bitch about 'Barretards', "Camping', 'Spawn Killing' and other really basic strategies that make Soldat work.

I have always thought that the 'free' version of Soldat is too permissive.  If the 'free' version of the game was limited to DeathMatch, I think that would be a good solution.  IMOHO.

It's quite 'tricky' to state that a registered player would be more polite, more mature than a non-registered player, whatever the registration cost is (for an american child 20 american dollar ain't that much). Also don't forget a lot of the more mature players at this time started playing an earlier soldat version at a young age; people grow up eventually which -sometimes- result in a less childish behaviour. If soldat would turn into semi-shareware, you'll lose a lot of potential players, good and bad ones.

if you make it a timed shareware version... new players would be instantly turned off by the game

Exactly.
I don't buy trial updates, even if the game is the best in the world.

ok no offence but obviously no one in here plays other games other than soldat. have you guys every thought of ths. Would you rather play World of Warcraft for 15$ or soldat for 15$? think about that. one is 3d and one will still be 2d. im not saying WoW is better than Soldat. Soldat has something WoW doesnt but just think bout then detail wise. 15$ for 3d or 15$ for 2d. but i love ww1 so i would register for 15$ think bout it. you in the trenches listening to the gun fire of the Enemy in the enemy lines. suddenly everything goes silent and oyu here the Steel birds flying over your heads in the attempt of your safety :D

I'd choose WoW, because WoW is da bomb.
