How can I challenge myself ?
« on: November 04, 2006, 02:27:40 am »
I'm a very athletic person, I always have been. I need to constantly push myself beyond my limits. The thing is I live in the middle of OC suburbs and there's nothing here. I already work out and run like a maniac but that gets old. I can't join the army, and there's no boxing/MA gyms around. Any ideas how I can challenge myself ?

What the shit ? I guess you've never been to OC. I already jumped from all the tallest buildings, which are like 20ft.

Yeah it's about the movement and flow...gay. It's about big jumps and big heights, it's all that matters.

Yeah, it's about seeing the options in angles and curves off a building, or any structure, really. Adn if you're really athletic and looking for a rush, maybe you should look into it. Sounds like you're suited for it.

How is that gay?

Cause it's what all the beginners are doing. They're jumping over and under rails, or like 6 foot walls, and they call it flow. Gaaaay. Booooring. Look at David Belle, Cyril, Foucan or your beloved Dvinks clan. It's all big, big, challenging things, not something my little sister could do.

So you wanna do something where you a pro' from the start? I don't think that's a very realistic way of looking at it, mate.

EDIT, and it's not boring, man. It's amazing! These guys have no fear, and they live off the rush.. Maybe you just aren't suited for it?

What the fuck are you talking about, not suited for it ? I have been doing this from the beginning. What's not realistic about it ? I've been jumping and climbing, doing what's became to known as parkour since I've been a little kid, and it's always been big.

...to the crystal maze!

Crystals?  Where?

Go to the beach.

Find a large piece of wood to stand on.

Attach weights to your hands or ankles, and live out your ultimate Ralph Machio fantasy.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams it is
still a beautiful world.  Strive to be happy.

Then what's the big issue here? I thought you meant you didn't wanna start with the basics and shit.

You misunderstood me big time. I've been doing parkour since before it had a name.

PS: I knew I shouldn't make this kinda thread on a gaming forum. ::)

^^Everyone does it anyway.

So, you've been in it for long, eh? Got any footage or some?
You're living in a urban inviroment, right, so you have to addapt. How about BMX'ing? I know it's not very original, but it's really cool. Pretty easy to learn too. I've been riding for about a year, and I'm fairly capable, regardless of the big fat whale that is my belly. Imagine what you, mr. athlete, could do?
