It might take a while before I actually do, though.  I need the internet right now and probably won't be able to do without it for a while.

Also, the fact that Dascoo has this problem as well isn't insignificant.  Now it doesn't work on dacoo's version of Opera, Firefox 1.0.7 (on both a Windows and a Mac, by the way), and Netscape 7.4.  Chances are that it's something funky with the site, not our browsers.

From what i've briefly searched on similar problems with SMF, theres a few things to do with the forums itself that can make this problem occur.... but none of the ones i've found appear to be in effect on this forum. Otherwise, i've found mention of firewalls having this annoying effect. If you got any, turn 'em off for when you're doing your foruming and see what happens.

As for browsers, I use Opera 8.51 (not the latest I think), and i've never had a problem with the forums. Older versions of Opera used to be a right cunt for stability, and I haven't heard great things on the latest Opera either.

...never seen anyone with as many browser problems as you guv. Anyone'd think you're running Win98.

It should also be noted that I, every now and then, preview one of my posts and leave the room to go yell at people.

When I come back and click the "post" button, I get an error that says "You have already posted this message" when I, of course, didn't yet. I use Firefox 2.

My sentence structure is horrible this morning.

I can solve that by clicking back and then clicking next (and accepting the POSTDATA warning) after waiting the required 30 seconds.

I had some free time today so I installed 2.0 -- luckily my older version still worked while I was getting this one up and running.  This one still crashes when I open up .avis or even .pdfs in other programs, though. :(

Now for the news we all knew was coming: I still get the same problem with this version.

What version of acrobat reader do you have installed?  The "crashing with pdfs" thing is only fixed when you have version 7 of acrobat installed because they finally made their thing fully compatible with firefox (it was an acrobat issue the whole time, not firefox)

I browse the forums perfectly fine with Win98 SE and Firefox 1.5.

I would reinstall your OS, whichever it is, sounds like a problem with your DLL's or something.

I have 7.0 installed, this is different from that older bug.  I also don't have a Windows XP CD that I can use, nor do I look forward to downloading it.

Also, I just tested the forum bug out with the IE that came with my computer and it does the exact same thing.  Would it help if I started to make a list of the threads that I can't post in?

If everyone can look at those threads and tell me anything you think they all have in common, it would help.  It is easier to have many of us look at it than just one person trying to figure it out ;)

Are you using the Quick Reply? There seems to be a bug when you have quick-moderation options set to "checkboxes" and haven't posted in a thread. The quote function also breaks. Changing the quick-moderation options or using the reply link seems to fix it.
