I can't post in most threads anymore

The forums have been bugging out lately.  It started with just a few threads that I couldn't post in, but now it looks like I can't post in the majority of them.  The only sections of the forums where this has been really consistent is the Forum News and Support and Beta Testing sections -- I can't post in those at all anymore.  Everywhere else seems to be random.

Is anyone else getting the same problem?

It blanks it out.  I'm not updating Firefox because each new version tends to be more unstable than the last, on my computer, at least.  1.0.7 has been the only relatively stable version I've found and I'm sticking with it.

You could at least try the new version, and if it shows to be unstable, remove it and go back to your current one. Personally, I've never had any problems with any Firefox version.

since this is the second issue that you've had with the forums and nobody else has (I forget what the first was), I refuse to look into it until you're using current software.  You're 2 major versions (1.5, 2) and at least 7 or 8 stable releases behind current.

I guess you're forcing me into updating.  Chances are that I won't be back on the forums for a few days while I troubleshoot the shit out of another version of Firefox until it works again...

Yeah opera's fine. Takes a little to get used to but its a fine browser, though far from perfect. Usually best to have the 3 main browsers at hand just in case really.

...anyhow, can you tell me exactly what happens when you try to post. Get on IRC if you can't post the details here.

Opera was worse than Firefox when it came to problems and I won't even touch IE.  I have an old version of netscape at my disposal, but I just tested it out and it won't let me post in those same trouble threads either.

These problems aren't a small matter either, they really mess up my entire computer for quite some time.

It's relatively stable.  That's awesome in my experience.

Chakra: random crashes whenever the program is opened, sometimes crashing my computer as well.  Opera actually screwed up my computer when it wasn't even open -- it wouldn't let me use any kind of media filetypes such as .avis, .wmas, and .swfs.  Firefox did the same, but to less filetypes and only when it was open. 

Once those problems were fixed, firefox would still crash if I opened a page that had those files embedded in it (again, sometimes taking my entire computer with it).  I also have had huge memory leak problems where firefox would stall up my computer if I opened too many pages in too short of a time or if I left them open too long (especially .swfs)

Firefox has also had problems terminating its .exe when it closed, also crashing my computer or hopefully just screwing it up temporarily.  Finally, there were times when trying to open another program while Firefox was already running would cause my computer to stall for quite a while.

I still experience a few of these problems every once in a while (especially when opening up .avis inside of Firefox), which is why this version is only relatively stable.

I've had to repeat the process of fixing Firefox each and every update (which takes several days at least), so you can understand why i might not want to do it again -- especially when the best I can hope for is just under satisfactory.

for fcks sake Vijcht, just bite the bullet and try FX2.   Dascoo doesn't count because he's using Opera.  If you really want to help me troubleshoot this, you'll do the kind thing and try it in FX2.  If not for the fact that you should be using the latest version, than to help me figure out the cause of this.
