Nades, those small green balls which can do hell of a destruction when thrown at small soldat's face.

They are a bit too powerfull IMO.

I mean:

player A vs. Player B

Player A throws a nade at player B, nade did 67% damage.
Player B shoots at player A, at the same time Player A shoots at player B.
When player B died, he was able to do 32% damage to player A.

Player B is more wise now.

Player B hits player A with a nade. Nade did 10% damage (lagged, bugged)
Player A shoots at player B. Player B throws another nade, it hits and kills player A.
Player B lost 30% of health when he was "reloading" a nade.

Player A hits player B with a nade, excelent hit, player B is killed.


Nades can make random damage from 0% to 100%, depending on the speed of a nade and luck (laggyness)
Slow nade (reaching the top of its arc, threw directly upwards) usually kills with 1 hit.
Fast nade (Threw from m79 blast) does usually no damage, nor knocks victim away.
In 1v1, it is just matter who hits with the nade first, if lucy, one nade takes out the enemy, in most cases still over 50% of their health.

Damage should be lowered by like 10%-40% IMO.
There could be a bit more splash damage tho. (+10% radius or damage)

They're fine, they are my "last-chance-to-survive"-weapons.

They are not unbalanced IMO, since everyone has them. But in clanwars it is usually like over 30% of my kills made with nades.

Also, If i check my personal stats with soome stats program, I notice that nades are my most used weapon. :P

However, they seem to do up to 90% damage if a person is hit directly with it, I've never seen it do as low as 10% from a direct hit though. I think grenades are okay. It's a simple way to win a fight if you are already losing.

Well, have you ever played a clanwar or gather in Soldat?

Do it everyday for like 2 years and you notice that not always nade does damage, and sometimes it kills with one hit.

Nades can also be used for boosting from boxes which have colliders in them.

And because of that i play with a 'nade maximum of 2.

Nade damage is NOT random.  Nades have a unique locational damage pattern.

They do a huge amount of damage to legs, some damage to the torso, and only a little damage to the head.  Basically the opposite of all other weapons.

This is why walking over a grenade always kills you instantly.  It also means that, if one person has a height advantage on the other in a duel, the person on bottom should use grenades, while the person on top should not use grenades.

Of course, I've never seen the source code, so it could be more complicated.  But I guarantee, if you start using grenades with this in mind, you'll see much more consistent results.

Also, I think grenades are balanced fine.

edit: as for nades not doing damage at all, that's a bug that seemed to be introduced around 1.2.1 or thereabouts.  Nades are NEVER supposed to do 0 damage.

I have seen nades do 0 damage, but besides that nades are very balanced, they don't kill unless you walk over them and are hard to hit with, and besides that, don't ruin my favorite weapon :)

When a nade does 0 damage, that's the fault of a bug.  And a nade CAN kill you instantly if it's thrown into your legs.  You don't have to walk over it.

Bad idea.  The current nade locational damage is quite elegant -- it balances nades against other weapons.  In a duel, it keeps the higher player from having an absolute advantage.

nades are good when your on the ground thats why i throw them at thier feet but sometimes thier good in the air.

Lol. *sigh* This idea of nade changing has been brought up before I believe and nades have plenty of splash damage and their power is perfect in terms that everyone has them. Increasing splash damage= nade spammers( epically in r/s servers :P). Soldat is not very much realistic. Try not to ruin the unrealistic gameplay that has made Soldat my favorite game.

I'd like to see grenades weakened. It's a bit unfair when you shooting a guy, chiping away his health, and then he shoves a grnade in your face with almost no effort. It's bad enough with the M79, but its worse with normal grnades because everyone has them (I wouldnt mind if the M79 was weakened too).

Nades are fine. im a sniper and i rarely use them unless i HAVE to. they are a valuable asset to have in any firefight and if you don't have / use them then thats your own problem. there are plently of people out there that can always score instakills with nades and quite frankly if your a target of one of these people, don't whine about it. either learn how to instakill with them more often or just don't use them at all, like me.

offtopic: This is yet another weapon whine thread...Why won't you people learn to just accept the weapons balance AND LEARN TO USE IT EFFECTIVELY!

for exaple
if you are running and you see someone low to you well dont get to him he oviously are going to drow and anede
so anedes are fine to me
and other point. they are a general wepon all have it so no one is in ventage

Didn't read almost shit what everyone wrote, but nades should be like in realistic. You don't get much of 'em, but they are as fearful as they should be.

Um, in realistic, the reason why you don't get much of them is because there aren't any nade boxes, and the reason why they instakill is because you don't get much health anyway. and whats normal mode...? nade boxes are there to refill your nades, and if they were fearful as ever in normal mode...i wonder what happens when you respawn in 3 seconds time? you get a whole new stack of em. i say, leave them as they are, because nades are perfectly fine. oh and those people who want nades to be more realistic and kill when they hit the face, i don't suppose them blowing up on contact realistic, and most nades blow up after 2 seconds, not 4.
